Can $2 Gas Give SUV Sales a Jump?

No one thinks it will last, but $2-per-gallon gasoline could provide a boost to domestic automakers early this year as consumers eye big SUVs again, at least a little.

The Detroit automakers suffered a financial blow when gas hit $3 a gallon last summer and auto buyers avoided big, fuel-thirsty pickups and SUVs that are most profitable for the companies.

But now gas prices in the Detroit area are at their lowest point since March 2005, and crude oil dipped below $52 a barrel -- a 19-month low -- Tuesday when Saudi Arabia refused to back an emergency OPEC meeting meant to boost oil prices.

About the SUV - Yes, it will help, but can you explain why you need these SUVs!?!

If you really need an off-roader get one real off-roader, all other Crossovers, SUVs and Trucks, which americans use in cities are completely pointless!!!
