GM Tries to Change Image to Green Motors

General Motors' environmental image is an inconvenient perception for the company.

The automaker, which was essentially the villain in the documentary film "Who killed the electric car?" in 2006, is seen as a big part of the problem by those concerned about the environment and global warming.

The ORIGINAL point is that GM is increasing the number of hybrids in it's portfolio and coming up with innovative products like the Chevy Volt.

Not ffing true. I am sure that more than 1/2 of all GM sold (by # of vehicles sold) are GAS GUZZLING AND GAS GUZZLER TAX NOT PAYING that get about 15 MPG. And emitt lots of pollution as "trucks" get higher limits on pollutants from the EPA.

Chewy what gasoline car does not emmit high pollutants? All cars emmit pollutants and cars used in the city emmit more pollutants in the air cause there used more than say a farmer with his truck just using it around the farm.

GM is NEVER going to produce the volt. Thats an attempt to improve the public perception of GM. And GM hybrids are mild hybrids. At most improve the gas mileage slightly. Take the saturn vue hybrid. The improvement over the non hybrid is 4 mpg city, 3 mpg highway. Whoopee! Thats gonna drop my gas budget! The only reason GM does this is it allows them to say they sell hybrids.

You don't know if GM is never going to produce the Volt, who are you Nostafreckindomous? ALL hybrids including toyota are the same, they don't get better gas milage than regular gasoline engines, Hybrid's are only made for the city anyway. If you live out in the country, they are worthless! Hybrids are not the solution, but I can see electric vehicles are! The Ford Ranger electric was awesome.
