Postcards From Spain: 2008 Porsche Cayenne Launch Snapshots
Notice that our posting has been a bit lax the last few days? The blogging brain trust at WINDING ROAD has been preoccupied both in our home country and beyond in pursuit of stories for future issues. Our apologies for the lack of updates, but we thought you might enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at the international launch of the 2008 Porsche Cayenne lineup in Cadiz, Spain, from which at least some of us just returned about eight hours ago.

We drove all three new Cayennes (base, S, and Turbo), subjecting them to everything from high-speed highway running and disarmingly narrow twisty mountain roads to an off-road course around a bull-fighting ranch and equestrian center. Naturally, we’re preparing a full article for our April issue (hey, our March release is just around the corner!), but suffice it to say, the latest Cayenne is more of a good thing – a stupefying capable SUV for those with thick wallets.

We’ll leave the specific kudos and not-sos for the article, but click on through for a gallery of random images from our travels.*

(*Note: some photos depict first-generation models that were on-hand for back-to-back comparisons)

A better setting would be the shopping centers and Wal-Marts of suburbia.

too many reasons to list, like being mentally retarded, likeing ugly designs, being blind...... many more. The differences r MINOR. Just the front and back lights abit. Maybe some unseen changes.......

Such as the engines?

Cayenne V6 now has 290hp.

Cayenne S has 360hp.

I forgot what the Turbo has, but much closer to the previous Turbo S's power rating.

The new Cayenne's have more of a 911 look from the front.

I like them.

They've already cut back. Look at the interior. What are the journalists smoking when they say "high-quality"? Not only does it look cheap and outdated, but it has low-rent materials all over.

Touareg and Q7 interiors are far better.

I think Porsche made a big mistake when they released the Cayenne. They should have sticked to their famous gorgeous super-cars and leave the SUV business to others.Cayenne sucks big time. The only reason it's still selling is it's Porsche badge.
