Dodge Viper Caught In Sleet Testing

Dodge Viper Caught In Sleet Testing
Art Director Nate Luzod and his trusty sidekick, Mae Magsalin (her real name), caught this “Viper Blue” Dodge Viper SRT10 on I-275 in Detroit today. Curiously, the engineering team still felt the need to cover the hood in vinyl, even though the Viper launched weeks ago at the Detroit Auto Show. All the same, it was interesting to see the vehicle out and about over the weekend in the freezing temperatures. Our art director reports that the driver kept the 8.4-liter beast moving slowly.

The car seems to be a Frankenstein-like mule, with a 2008 hood but a current-generation front clip (note the larger fog lights as opposed to the 2009’s smaller units).

Why? Nobody buys a Viper as their daily driver, and certainly, nobody would ever drive it through sleet.

I think they should just give it a damn 0-60 test, and put it on sale.

I didn't say anything about the Z06 or DCX, but yes, I'd take a Z06 over it.

Or a Ford GT, or an Audi R8, or a Mercedes SL55 AMG, or a Ferrari F430, or a Lamborghini Gallardo...

This is a nice car. Look how wide it is. Although, they could do a lot better with the size of this engine. I think the horsepower is a little too skimpy for a V-10.

Either way, the competition has more power. I think they need to increase the power on this car. I remember when it used to be one of the fastest. Now it's just old news.

I'd take the Viper over the Vette anyday and twice on Sunday.

Vette has more heritage but the Viper has the dna to be called an American Supercar, right alongside the Z06. These two cars is the answer to the European's exotics.

The first Viper had style. this one lacks it. If it wasn't for the engine in this car no one would care. I will take a Z06 and visit the gas station alot less to boot.
