Report: BMW 1-Series to launch with Coupe and Convertible model in US
Well we already know that the new BMW 1-Series will be coming to the US in early 2008, but now Automotive News is reporting that according to a BMW source and dealers the BMW 1-Series will launch in the United States with a coupe and a convertible variant. That’s right a convertible variant. BMW has been afraid to sell the 1-Series in the US due to the low price of the compact vehicle but it now seems that with a convertible and a coupe variant BMW can charge a higher price.

Last week we reported that BMW will also be launching the 135i in the US, which is the 3.0 liter twin-turbo powered 1-Series developing 306 horsepower. Check out our new gallery of the BMW 1-Series.

I doubt it. They've been saying this forever.

Besides, wouldn't they not want to directly compete with the Mini? They'll lose!
