I wonder how many days Toyota would take before it dominates NASCAR. The Tundra kicked the collective butts of Ford and GM in the Craftsman truck series without even trying.

Based on Toyota's experience in F1, it may take longer than you would think.

F1 is far more advanced than Nascar and the players in F1 have far more knowledge than Toyota in Aerodynamics and Engine technology in what F1 is concerned.

Toyota might do well in NASCRAP but they have failed in F1. Them Europian teams like Renault have been spanking Toyota's behind like a little baby's. How about that for competition. And forget, Toyota is the one spending the most money in F1, makes the whole thing even funnier, foo.

And BTW, it is lame to say stuff like "Toyota doesn't belong in NASCRAP because they ain't domestic" it's like saying that foreign born players can't play in the NBA.

5 years of outspending every F1 team have brought Toyota nothing.

All this negative talk about Toyota...I've said it before, arrogance and underestimating the competition has lead to the downfall of many American businesses. Just like when Toyota first entered the American market, same talk. It amazes me to still hear people laughing at Toyota. Kind of ironic, since it is these people that we should be laughing at.

I don't think even with Toyota entering nascar will make me watch. Just wished they went WRC instead. At least that would be interesting.

all the more remarkable, considering toyota had to forego there state-of-the-art DOHC motors and start from scratch with old style pushrod engines and carburetors to compete! showing once again, it can beat the sluggard domestics at their own game.

i'm not a nascar fan. do they gotta use old pushrods there too?

Yep... carbs and pushrods. It will be interesting to see how they do.

I think "toyotasucks" has come back as "gogo" based on his crude comments.

the bmw logo is a reminder of their heritage building aircraft engines, but they haven't MADE any since wwII.

RR built aero engines too. but after switching to jet engines, their car engine designs stagnated, and at the end they were just dumping pushrod gm V8s under the classic Rollers.

bmw's bike engines were old pushrods all the time honda evolved from tw0-stroke and ohv single cylinder engines, thru twins, 4- and 6-cyl dohc types.

now HONDA is making JET engines. while still designing and building some of the world's most advanced ICEs.

NO other engine maker is as varied, advanced and flexible as Honda.

toyota is close by, but just in auto production and racing engines.

Honda is #1. Toyota #2. everyone else struggles for just #3 position.
