Toyota Officially Falls In Line Behind George Bush

Good for Toyota. I hope other follow too.

Toyota is not the leader in hybrid technology, they just have more hybrid shits in the market. They are not the leader. They were not even the first car company that made it available to the public, how can they be the leader? The Honda Insight though dead still carries the title of the most fuel effecient hybrid not, the Toyota. They are such hypocrits, how can they claimed to support Bush's plan when their latest beast is a gas addict?

GM wasn't the first to make vehicles, but they soon became the leader. Why? Because leadership is based off of profits and sales. Honda was the first with hybrid technology, but Toyota sells more. That's what makes you the leader, not how long you've been around.

It will be good to see auto makers - Toyota or otherwise - get behind this sort of action.

Further solidifying Toyota's green credentials. I will point out again, as I did yesterday, that even the new Toyota Tundra behemoth comes in with decent mpg. Edmunds tested it, and its mpg was better than the less powerful Silverado and Titan. Toyota will have no trouble keeping up with increased CAFE standards or whatever watered down goals finally come out of Washington. Sure, they'll proabbly join some auto industry lobbying group to make the standards as low as possible. But in the end, Toyota will always put out cleaner, more fuel efficient vehicles than any other complete line manufacturer.

I'm glad Toyota will try to make their car more fuel effecient, which they already are. Because Toyota will do this, it will force other company to do the same if they want to stay in business. I think this is very for the environment and us the consumer as well.

Believe me, I love every company who cares for the environment. Just don't get it twisted as if they don't have their own motive behind it. Toyota is trying to be more American than the real Americans. And I am just sick and tired hearing people here buying into Toyota's commercials that they are the world's leader in hybrid technology, while they were not even the first company who massproduced it. Honda still holds the world's record for the most effecient hybrid and fuel car company. Toyota has more money than Honda does, that is why you're seeing more Toyota hybrid products.
However, they are not the leader in that technology.

honda did beat toyota to MARKET hybrids in the U.S. but toyota was first in Japan (where they ensured reliability etc. before offering in U.S. market).

Well, the marketing genius's at Toyota are at work again. This will get great play for them, but they probably know it will go almost nowhere in DC because of the Detroit automakers. Can you say Democrats and Union (UAW)? Great move but I wish they'd shut up about their hybrids. It's getting cold up here in the Northeast and we could use a good blast of "global warming".

Toyota has more money than God. Of course they can follow the expensive initiatives layed out but fellow Toyotan (opps i mean fellow Texan) George Bush..

who cares about a Hybrid.. its only a stop leak at best.. where is the tech to do away with using gasoline.. if toyota is so concern about saving fuel they should package a hybrid with a diesel engine. That way it would get like 70mpg not 50mpg. But using Diesel still doesn't solve the problem of using petro type oil.

you sound like the union people 100 years ago who complained about cutting the work week from 60 (80?) hours a week down to 40 (60?).

they wanted workers to CONTINUE FEELING oppressed, to gain more members.

a BIG IMPROVEMENT in conditions was not GOOD ENUFF for them. they wanted GREAT improvements, right NOW!

hybrids ARE the best tech available today. and they will only get BETTER YET over time.

maybe in some 30 - 50 YEARS, we'll be off petro fuels. but don't expect that next week.
