NASCAR Roush Toughens Rhetoric Against Toyota

NASCAR Roush Toughens Rhetoric Against Toyota
With Toyota poised to enter NASCAR's Nextel Cup series this season, Ford team owner Jack Roush is revving up the combative rhetoric.

Roush, the loudest critic of NASCAR's decision to allow the Japanese automaker to enter the Nextel Cup series this season, said he's "preparing myself for siege" on the track and in the boardroom this year.

"I expect to hand Toyota their head over the short term," Roush said on Wednesday during NASCAR's preseason media tour.

Roush, who has said in the past that Americans shouldn't buy foreign cars because it hurts the economy, believes that Toyota's entry will hurt NASCAR because the automaker will outspend teams affiliated with domestic automakers.

But he's ready for a fight.

"Nobody's frightened," Roush said. "We're going to go to war with them, and they should give us their best shot."

A stupid comment from a stupid person. Renlex has often proved that he's a dumb little kid who thinks he knows stuff about cars. In reality, he's a stupid little troll. Don't take him seriously.

I think he has justified confidence in his short-term outlook. But when viewed more long-term Toyota might prove to be a worthy opponent.

Roush is a big crybaby, if he's not complaining about this, he's complaining about another team doctoring tires, he's always whining about something, and everybody knows it.

Besides what exactly is an American car? A Mexican made GM product or American Built Toyota? There is no reason to deny any maker due to Nationality.

Stupid comment is right. Lets talk about Toyota recalling 2.8 million cars/trucks in the last two years or the sludge problem in their engines that cause them to fail.Or loss of steering problems Toyota has had and hid for the last few years, not once but twice. What Americans fail to realize is that the MONEY is going back to Japan not staying here and that kills investment which drives our economy and creates jobs. Yes, Toyota builds cars here but they also import more cars than they build here. If American business had equal access to the Japanese market it would be different but they do not due to tarriff's imposed on them. As to quality, most recent studies on show there is little or no difference beyond what people perceive. As for Toyota in Nascar, it is crazy. They do not build an OHV V8 motor so what are they racing? Nascar allowed this to broaden the sport and has no concern for the people that lose their job as for Nascar it's not about the money it's about the money (for them).
My pet peeve is the Toyota 4th of July parade commercial that presents them as an American company complete with Uncle Sam leading the way. Disgusting.
Jack is right, don't buy Japanese cars.

"Americans shouldn't buy foreign cars because it hurts the economy"

Logically, then, the Chinese should not buy American cars, but the last time I looked GM was ahead in the Chinese market.
