Toyota Auris coming to Germany in March - Watch Out VW Golf
In March Toyota will launch the new Toyota Auris in Germany dealerships. The Toyota Auris, in Germany, will go head-to-head against Volkswagen’s Golf with two engine sizes including a 1.4 liter with 97 horsepower, a 1.6 liter with 124 horsepower and a 2.0 liter diesel with 126 horsepower. Pricing for the Toyota Auris is still to be announced for Europe but it is expected to be somewhere around 15,000 Euros. The Auris will come into four different equipment variants for the European market.

I'm sure the Auris is very reliable as well.
But the Golf looks much better IMO.
And it doesn't stand a chance against the Golf in Germany. ( Hometurf advantage plus design advantage)

Well, the issue is not will it beat the VW Golf this year, it is whether it will dramatically increase Toyota sales in Germany and take some profitable business away from VW.

Remember 40 years ago VW was the import king into the US. Slowly but surely Toyota has blasted VW back to Europe. VW now sells fewer vehicles in the US than Lexus for heavens sake, let alone Toyota, Lexus and Scion!

Here are the US numbers in thousands of sales for 2006:
Lexus 322
Scion 173
Toyota 2047
Total Toyota 2,542 (2.542 million)

Audi 90
Bentley 3
VW 235
Total VW 329 (0.329 million)

Laugh at Toyota's success in the US and say it doesn't apply to Europe if you want - but don't ever forget that VW was once the undisputed import brand champion for the US.

Don't forget- VW is German, and their cars are of higher quality there than they are here. They have less reasons to buy a Toyota over a VW competitor than we did.

Like everyone has said, this car will fail against topping the Golf in Germany. The Golf is Germany's best-selling car, always has (recently), always will (for awhile).

Why are you fanboys always talking about the Toyota "rags-to-riches" stories? Just because it has the holy ToyLex badge on it, doesn't mean it will automatically sell well, its faults nonwithstanding.

The Golf is the best-selling car in Europe, and I can't think of one thing that this car has that even remotely matches it.

Remember, now, that VW has good reliability in Europe.

Lexus fans, it's like you screaming "NOBODY'S EVER GOING TO BEAT THE CAMRY IT'S THE BEST CAR EVER". Nobody is going to beat the Golf, at least in the near future.

Actually, the A4 has either an "average" or "above average" reliability rating from consumer reports, and is a highly recommended model.
