...Oh come now, really. You know, I know and have meet [including 2 Nobel Prize winners] some extremely intelligent people. I remember as a freshman in college I knew one person in particular who was technically a senior in college, in honors classes left and right including honors Quantum field theory and Diff Eq among others. HE was a very exceptional person. His name was Dillon and he was 12 years old. I was told, although am unsure, that he had the highest I.Q. of anyone who had taken the Stanford Binet in the past 10 years.

Anway, being around these people you quickly realize that there is no correlation between intelligence and the cars people drive. There is a correlation between the cars and their interests I would say however.

There always seemed to be a large number of Volvo driving professors in the mathematics department. And a fair number of toyotas and one or two Volvos or Audis running aroudn in the parking lot of the Geology and Geophysics department lots.

My department [Petroleum Engineering] has by far the most money and so there are several Jags [Xj and Xks]and A G-wagon or two running around our buildings lots. Of course the difference is that they are driven by the students.

I call B.S. on yoru assertion that smart people drive this or that.

Since when lexus was fun to drive??The 1990 LS400 is the best car lexus made n all the others r crap. And mercedes isnt boring n they r more fun to drive n have better performance but CHRYSLER is ruining everything

So what happens to these batteries when they are done? The disposal of them causes great enviromental concerns. (And the hybrids do still pollute.)
What is not fun about the 398 pound feet of torque in the ML320cdi? Very few cars in the lexus lineup actually have soul that excites the driver years after their purchase. Quality is what Lexus does well in and should stick to.

diesel starts better at lower temps, surely? fuel viscosity or something...it's why they use them in the artic and antarctic, petrol would freeze.

Gasoline actually doesn't freeze- it just gets "gummy".

minus 6 is nothing, any car can probably start in that.
but yeah you're right about the glow plugs but they're pretty qucik nowadays, start when you unlock the car so it's ready for you.

That guy has clearly never owned a diesel Mercedes... You can tell diesel owners apart from once-in-a-while diesel drivers simply because Mercedes diesel owners are die hard fans. Everything about MB diesels grows on their owners year after year of use. I think it's a bit misleading to review them as if they are aspiring gas engines. They are totally different machines made for totally wholly people.
