SPIED: Mercury Montego

Looks like the new Mercury Montego has been spied with Milan Headlamps and a Mariner Grille. In the back theres a replaced mounting place for the plate, a new trunk lid, and clear tailamps. The bumper beneath the grille is recessed, which adds a bit more character to the nose, and appears to give it a more prominent face, not unlike VW/Audi's new corporate grille, not unlike VW/Audi's new corporate grille. Because the Ford Five-Hundred has gone public at the NAIAS, it looks like it will go publc at the Chicago Auto Show. The changes don't utterly transform the car, but the changes to front and back are definitely more extensive than mere headlight and taillight tweaks.

mercury is a nicer version of ford, without stepping up to a lincoln. Mercury is to ford, what Buick is to GM (kinda). Either way, its a nice car. Most Ford vehicles are good everyday cars. With the new 3.5 engine, this can compete better with the competition. The baby boomers like these types of vehicles. Several baby boomer relatives of mine have bought either the Montego of Ford 500 (with the old 3 liter) but they really like them.

We KNOW what Mercury is, but we're saying, there's just no point.

They sell about 1/15 of what Ford sells per year, and no matter how many re-badged Fords they add to their lineup, they're not getting any more interesting. It's either Ford or Lincoln; nothing in between. And even Lincoln is getting less appealing!
