Mr Ablazing Bimmer oops I think you spelled your name wrong, J/K but get over it, we all know that BMW lost a bundle on the first 2 years of 7 series from Buy Backs, I know several meaning more than 20 people personally who got the 7's bought back. So lay off, no product is completly with out flaw.

I heard this story is true. One of the sales people at my BMW dealership was telling me about it.

Lexus and anyone else reading this, to come across an article about a proto type having issues and gloat about it is truly sad. I used to own a Lexus for a total of 2 months because it just wasn't the car for me. This was back in 2000 still to this day I get letters from Lecus/Toyota about oil sludging problems which there was a class action suite about as well. So your acting as if Toyota/Lexus are perfect is far from the truth. I just get tired of the immature atitudes on this site and constant back and fourth product bashing. Truth is Audi sold nearly 1 million vehicles world wide while Lexus does not come close. The on;y place where Lexus is successful is the US where we buy the badge not the car for the most part. If you don't care for Audi so be it but thats for you my friend, don't hate the fans of a brand or the brand itself just continue loving your brand of choice! Stop the hate!

Car magazine comparisons are very biased towards performance/handling (pretty much that is what dictates their judgement - not everyone is an enthusiasts and definitely not everyone buying a BMW is an enthusiast), that is why German brands have won a lot more. Also living daily with a car really shows how useful it is.

Kart then what's the purpose in driving the cars if all they compare is performance and handeling? Should they compare level of bore factor and lack of creativeness?

I saw a guy outside of his Toyota Highlander with emergency flashers and on his cell phone. I didn't want to take a picture and embarass this guy all over the internets. But you know them Toyota sure are unreliable. True story too.

A car that has been tested hard, driven hard, and taken sideways can be no where near mint. The parts obviously will need repairs or replacement. A car like that has to undergo brutal testing or readers/consumers like us will never know it's pros and cons. We can't be that surprised to see a broken down car lol. It's not bad yet especially when maybe it's a preproduction like Will said. Also like Chewy said, no pictures, no evidence.

I want to know one thing about unintended aceleration.
The drivers switched the gas and brake pedal because they were close, tipical for a sports car. And I assume that BMW and MB had also these two pedals close, so how come nobody made a clip about them and this POS thing?

Auto Union I know of events after the fact for BMW and MB personally from dealers who had clients trying to say the same thing but would you try to falsefy this test agin to tarnish other brands after you are already under the gun? One person crashed her Benz into a tree right in front of the dealership while other customers watched! The dealer fought her and made sure she did not make to the News with her false story.

Poor Audi - everybody should cut them some slack.

When I was a suburban teenager, my dad got this great Audi 5000 turbo which then plummetted in value because of CBS' scare tactics. I remember the TV interviews of drivers in my area (NY) who launched their Audi's thru garage doors and the like and they were inevitably the most inept and incompetant out there.

Most seemed to be drivers whose Custom Cruiser was in the shop and they were using their spouse's car. It really is a crime what CBS did to Audi.

Your two bad cars make the brand right? How about the fact they were truly VW's with a new badge back then? But you bought a Scirocco and all was good right? Come one man, I havd Mercedes bought back personally, I have friends who've had their 7's bought back and my parnets have an ML and S Class that boht have had issues since day one. I'm ashamed of the fact I sold them to them. Should I know dman the entire brands? The fact is cars break, all of them or they would all have lifetime warranties. If Toyotas, and such didn't break you wouldn't need techs only lube and filter guys. Get real and be honest here.

Has anyone stopped to think that if true 6 qt's of oil does not qualify as a leak? Perhaps the car was bottomed out and the oil pan was cracked? Oh, is that too much like a possiblity to be considered? Let's just jump on the bad quality train and ride until the wheels fall off. But I guess since there is no visual proof it's better to just run with the story as is and no think of the obvious.

On January 27, sight-seeing the Valley of Fire on our way to our rented house in Henderson near Las Vegas, I saw a convoy of some half dozen R8 Audis and a few Audi sedans of which one had a bicycle rack with two bicycles on it. They must have been heading to a photo shoot in the desert. Perhaps one of the cars punctured its oil pan when it bottomed out on a rock off the paved road. Yesterday evening, on Feb 8, I saw a white R8 on Las Vegas Blvd.
If it were not for the 4 Audi rings, I swear these cars could be mistaken for a super Porsche or some other exotic machine.
