Ford Expects Premium Group To Be Profitable This Year

After losing money for three years, Ford expects its Premier Automotive Group to get profit in 2007. "We expect PAG to be profitable this year," said Ford CFO Don Leclair.

In 2006, the four European luxury brands lost $327 million before taxes. That brought their three-year losses to $1.15 billion. Jaguar has lost $500 million to $1 billion a year since 2001. Jaguar executives concede the unit likely will lose money in 2007 and 2008 as well.

Thats beceause PAG is more is more in line with what Ford wants. Ford has more in common with Europe than with America.

Most people can't afford Aston, other Ford luxury brands does not resonate luxury anymore but I guess that could change in the future.

BTW, I live in a classically rich suburb of Chicago. The town is infested with Range Rovers, and yes, they "resonate luxury" with the town's mostly obnoxious inhabitants.

OK, so Ford said that Jag losing $700 million was false...does that mean the real number is lower or higher???

Is Jag actually selling any cars? I rarely see them in Massachusetts, even in the wealthy areas. I see all the other luxury brands all the time.

The real number is lower but Jags aren't selling because of the old styling and little advertising. Not many people actually know that the x-type is under $40,000. The XK is the only car that is selling well right now in the US. Sales are good in the UK.

"LITTLE" advertising? You're kidding. In every magazine I open, the first page (or something close to it) has an XK or XKR ad. I'm getting sick of seeing them; they're almost as abundant as the boring LS460 ads (the ads are what's boring, not the car).

S4cabriofoxone, I was referring to the cars that aren't selling well like the XJ, S-type, and x-type. There is very little advertising for those cars anymore.
