The Auction of Aston Martin Ends Today
The bidding process for the sale of Aston Martin is set to close within hours, with final offers for the luxury marque due by the end of today UK time. The auction is being handled by investment bank UBS on behalf of Ford. The remaining bidders include a well-financed consortium led by Australia’s richest man James Packer, another led by current Aston CEO Dr. Ulrich Bez and a third group led by Syrian-born billionaire Simon Halabi. Other interested parties include several UK equity groups as well as Canadian parts supplier Magna.

According to Autocar magazine, the new owner of Aston Martin won’t be officially announced for several days. Analysts are expecting the price tag to reach in excess of $1 billion, but this figure is regarded by industry experts as a ‘vanity’ purchase rather than a sound investment. However, Aston Martin is enjoying its greatest level of sales ever and the company is poised to do even better with the launch of its all new Rapide four-door model.

So who do you think will be the new owner of Aston Martin?
Will it be Australia’s richest man James Packer, the current Aston Martin CEO Dr. Ulrich Bez, or some other guy?

Stay tuned and find out.

Sony should have bought it. Then they could have made a 007 edition of each model.

Look at Sunshine1810's post- he took the words out of my mouth. Sony still makes good products, but they don't quite live up to the reputation of the brand.

Sony is the best in electronics? is that why my laptop, as well as hundreds of thousands (millions worldwide???) were recalled???

and btw...my Toyota has 90k on the odo, and I'm on my 4th engine, and second transmission. ...and it's 6 years old.

Sony is actually not that good. It has a reputation (at one time they were an excellent company) of being fantastic, but their products fall short compared to the competition.

No... AM has no profit. They're sensational cars, but Ford would just be flushing money down the toilet if they kept it much longer.

Unlike GM, Ford has an idea of what they're doing- by NOT BUYING MONEY-LOSING SPORTS CAR COMPANIES. GM is trying to be Lotus; for what reason, is beyond me.

AM belongs in a rich company like Toyota, VW or PSA.

S4, i guess your right. The only reason i had said that was becuase AM makes great cars (style wise) and Jag takes a lot of their inspriation from AM. But i think your right, Ford needs to start making money first, then they can look to prestige
