Toyota spent $3 Billion on 2007 Tundra Launch
Seems like Toyota is really dedicated to becoming a learder in the pickup truck market, leaving GM and Ford in the dust. Toyota dealers spent nearly $3 billion to prepare for the larger Tundra pickup. Toyota will also be spending multi-million dollars in advertising for the 2007 Toyota Tundra, with two 30-second SuperBowl spots already scheduled.

Prices for 2007 Toyota Tundra 4×4 models begin at $26,480 for the V6 with regular cab. The base 4×2 V6 model is priced at $22,290 while the 5.7 liter V8 Limited CrewMax starts at $41,850.

So say the average price of a Tundra that Toyota sells is $30,000. Assume they make $10,000 profit on each. It will take the revenue of 100,000 trucks or the profit of 300,000 trucks to cover that expense.

What do you think, one year or two to pay it off?

I don't believe that Toyota had to do a break even analysis on this one...they are loaded and have lots of resources. My guess is that the 3 billion could have been justified as a business development expense (long term thinking).

Toyota should have spent a few dollars on designing this truck.

It looks like that Hyundai Elantra in that ad.

Ugly, from front to back.

Oh yeah EL34 and Gogo2 you definitely should tell Toyota how to spend their money because obviously they really don't know what they are doing. I mean just look at their sales, increasing month after month. I mean it is so obvious they do not know how to spend their money. I don't know how they'd ever survive without advice from you two.

EL34 beacuse Toyota wants the Ford F series spot.

It's a long term thinking u fool.

I think Toyota should spend more to reach more and more parts of the world.

toyota wants the tundra to take the spot, because they have dominated in almost evry other class, except full size trucks and now they want to take over that to.

I went to my Toyota dealer and they said it will be coming out in three weeks. I'm excited. I want to drive one of these. Even though Toyota is spending a ton of money launching this, I'm sure they can make it back in a snap.
