Nissan Up 4.5%: Infiniti Up 6.8% in January

Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) today reported sales of 82,644 units in January, up 4.5 percent from the prior year. Nissan Division sales increased by 4.3 percent over last year. Infiniti Division posted a sales increase of 6.8 percent versus the prior year.

NISSAN HIGHLIGHTS
· January sales for Nissan-brand vehicles of 73,680 units increased by 4.3 percent on a daily sales rate basis compared with last year’s 67,834 units sold.
· Sales for Altima with 24,394 units were up 39.7 percent over last year. The Altima Hybrid is entering the market this month.
· The new Versa subcompact sold 4,497 units. The new sedan out this month now complements the hatchback.

INFINITI HIGHLIGHTS
· Sales for Infiniti were up 6.8 percent, with 8,964 units sold, as compared with last January’s 8,057 units.
· The all-new G35 sedan, with sales of 4,321 units, was up 71.1 percent over last year.


NNA INFORMATION
· Combined January sales for Nissan and Infiniti totaled 82,644 units, a 4.5 percent increase when compared with last year’s sales of 75,891 units.

Regarding my post- you know how you "blamed" Audi's positive sales results on the Q7? Well, take a peek at the new G35 sales. It made up almost half of their sales for the month. I'd eat my words if I were you.

I ask again why you hate Audi so much?

And that's not too surprising. The new G35 just came out.

Instead of saying that, why couldn't you have been mature and just said, "I'm glad Infiniti did well this month"?

Besides, Auid is still UP. You can't deny that.

Imagine the possibilities if Infiniti would make a Q45 worthwhile. However, do not shoot for the obvious target, the Lexus LS. Learn from VW's mistake of thinking the Phaeton would fly here in America.

BTW, overall market down 4.7% for this month comared to last year, for those of you who wanted to know.

"Overall, U.S. auto sales in January lagged the year-ago month. With only Mazda North American Operations yet to report, U.S. auto sales in January totaled 1,072,047 units, down 4.7 percent from a year earlier.

And yes the current Q is noncompetative.

I know. Just pointing out the subtle irony in the title, "Nissan in crisis". Nissan is releasing a slew of newly revised vehicles. It should help its numbers in '07 - at least in the states.
