the difference of course being that the BMW residual is probably actually realistic and the Chevy residual is inflated to give low lease payments.

Well the 2007 Chevrolet Suburban is far nicer in nearly every way compared to previous generation. However, the SUV and the BMW 5 series are not in the same car segment.

Spend some time in one of GM's 2007 trucks, you will understand why the residuals are high. They are pretty good trucks.

3 year old luxury car with 45,000 miles is "day old bread", whereas a Suburban is fresh until rusty.
