Chicago Auto Show: BMW Alpina B7 set for US debut
BMW will be debuting the new BMW Alpina B7, a high-performance 7-Series model developed by BMW and Alpina, at the Chicago Auto Show. The BMW ALPINA B7, ALPINA specially developed a higher-performance version of BMW’s 4.4-liter, 90-degree V-8 engine and mated it to a 6-speed automatic transmission featuring steering wheel mounted shift controls. The motor produces 500 horsepower at 5,500 rpm along with maximum torque of 516 lbs.-ft. at 4,250 rpm, and propels the B7 from 0-60 mph in a mere 4.8 seconds.

ALPINA 21-inch wheels carry Z-rated performance tires, while the sport-tuned suspension includes Active Roll Stabilization. The B7 aerokit includes a rear spoiler to improve stability, handling, and performance at high speeds.

I think it is awesome to, to a point though. BMW and Alpina are only bringing 200 to the US. Not really looking forward to answering alot of questions by people on this car due to its extremely short availability. There are 395 BMW dealers in the US. Basically, not everyone will be able to buy this car. It should be absolutely amazing in performance and handling. Pretty blowing the doors off everything in this class.

516 lbs of torque, the engine must be either turbocharged or supercharged to have that much torque in a 4.4 liter engine.

That is certainly supercharged. The new N64 engine which used in testing the F01/02 (New 750i) and the X6 is based on the Bi-turbo version of the 4.4 litre V-8.
The Power and Torque numbers will be limited to 400-420.

as great as it is, i just fail to understand what it is with these german carmakers as much as i love them - bmw is bringing in the B7 and next year the entire body style will be changed - audi just brought out the S8 and the brand new body style will be out in a couple of years at most...mercedes created an S65 amg of the old ordinary chrysler looking body of the S class just before the new S class body came out - go figure

Incredible performance for a car that size. It look really bloated compare to the Lexus LS, Audi A8 and the MB S-class.

styling is more aggressive, but still pretty tasteful. I like it.

The new S65 AMG kills this car...And if you add Brabus to the equation, not even Lambo can come close..Mercedes is the king...

Nice! Can't wait to see it!

"theman", if you want to pay $190K for an S65, be my guest.

You could also pay $100K for this.

They're not even competition. This is much closer to the S63 AMG.

Same with the $92K S8, by the way.

Is that what you say about every German car?

Ever seen a Lexus SC? LS? GS? GX?

This can't be compare to the S65 AMG as its in totally different price range. the S65 is almost double.
The B7 is just like 10k more then the S550 4MATIC. Its nowhere in comparison to the S65. Besides, the S65 has a V12 vs. the B7 V8.

Getting 500bph is really good from a 4.4 engine. One of the best power ratio out there. Even the 07 760iL with a V12 gives 438bhp

Lexus SC and LS? worst car every...esp the SC.
