Here’s the complete list by rank:

9.) 2007 Pontiac G6 GT 3.9, 2007 Saturn Aura XR
8.) 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt SS Supercharged
7.) 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT
6.) 2007 Volkswagen GTI
5.) 2007 Saturn Ion Red Line
4.) 2007 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE
3.) 2007 Mazdaspeed 3
2.) 2007 Toyota Camry V6
1.) 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX

The winner is the Subaru Impreza WRX, indeed, it shows that performance can be affordable. Surprisingly enough, the Camry made the list. Can a family sedan really be a performance notable?

Too bad the car the WRX is based on is rubbish.

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is not in the 20K to 25K price range. It starts near 29K. I was suprised to see the Mitsubishi Eclipse GT is number 7. I thought that car did 0-60 in under 6 seconds. I don't think the 2007 Saturn Ion Red Line is that fast.

The biggest surprise is the V6 Camry at number 2 spot.

The A3 2.0T is quicker than all of these cars...

Omran, this is $20-25K. The EVO is about $29K, right?

A A3 2.0T isn't faster then a GTI seeing as the A3 is just as powerfull but heavier.

Wrong. Check a comparison test, or even two seperate articles.

A3 is always quicker.

Our 2006 RAV4 V6 runs a 14.8 quarter mile and was under 25K...

Why is the Ion up there and why is the Aura up there?

No performance numbers to base the rank on? I'll agree that all the cars on the list are fast for the money, but does the order of the list mean anything without performance numbers to back it up?

It is to see a little something from most major manufacturers that sell vehicles in this price range. We all can agree/disagree on our favorites, but most everyone is represented here.

Click the article, this is based on 0-60 and quarter mile, Car and Driver reports both.

Don't be lazy.

I didn't see any 0-60 and 1/4 miles numbers when I clicked the article.

Go to the Car and Driver web site. All the data is there.

What proves Car and Driver doesn't know how to drive? Should they have gotten down to 5.2 sec 0-60 and thus a better 1/4 mile time for the WRX since they obviously didn't take full advantage of the AWD?

Also, we here at Autospies are mostly knowledgeble on vehicle pricing. Don't give us worst case pricing for the WRX, then compare it to best case pricing on the Mazdaspeed 3. This comparison is rediculous.

I think the WRX is a good value. I would be more interested in the Mazda Speed3, however. I think the Mazda 3 is a fantastic car. The insurance rates on these vehicles is rediculously high for what they are (WRX vs Speed3), and that takes away alot of the econo-rocket value.
