Motor Authority's Photoshop: 2008 Mercedes Benz C63 AMG
Mercedes Benz’s latest addition to its AMG arsenal will be the C63, a highly modified version of the recently launched C-class sedan, sporting the hand built 6.2L V8 engine found in numerous other AMG models. This rendering is a good representation of what the final version will look like. Using information sourced from several recent spy images, the rendering showcases key details such as the new front air dam and bigger air intakes.

Prototype mules have been caught on several occasions undergoing high-speed testing on Germany’s (in)famous Nürburgring circuit. The performance of the new sedan had better be amazing if it expects to compete with the Audi’s RS4 and upcoming RS5 as well as BMW’s next-generation M3. The final output from the V8 engine will be above 450hp, a significant leap over the current C55’s 5.4L output.

The car will also pick up a modified version of Mercedes’ new seven-speed automatic transmission, with drive being sent to the rear wheels. An AWD model is also expected further down the track. Coming as standard will be a set of lightweight 18in wheels filled with huge grooved and ventilated discs with six-piston calipers up front. Other key differences will be a set of quad tailpipes and rear diffuser. Expect the new C63 to hit showrooms midway though next year.

I like it. Looks pretty tame compared to the last generation AMG, but still classy and athletic.

I will be *VERY* happy if they set up a 4Matic option for the C63 AMG. Maybe they'll apply it as an option to all the other AMGs as well? Just a hopeful thought.

I don't know, but If I was looking for a 4 wheel drive car I would buy an AUDI instead.

RS4 would still be better, IMO. AMGs are all about straight-line speed, with decent but not-as-good-as-RS/M-handling. I have a feeling Lexus's "F" line will work under the same principle.

For an AMG this Photoshop looks below par, just not good enough. The competition in this class (Audi, BMW and now Lexus) is too good to let this car have any breathing room. So, MB should be on target and make this car worth the money. Making bigger and bigger engine for more power just does not cut it anymore. If this is really coming next year then it is behind its competitors already.

I like MB, but they really don’t understand how competitive this segment is. Audi and BMW will eat this car alive if MB thinks loyal fans will buy this car regardless of the 3rd party test results.

Having owned an M3 and test driven the S4 the mercedes def has these cars beat inside and out. The interiors in BMW, Audi, Lexus leave something to be desired with the cheap looking design.

Did they say 2008 or 2004?

Maybe you have to take a step back to take a step forward... or something insightful like that.

What a beautiful car. The previous C class just didn't have the WOW factor in the styling as this one does.

Well, that doesn't even look like a photoshop. I bet that's EXACTLY what it will look like.

LOL, nice, but nowhere near true. It will be more like $60,000, and it won't even touch the M3 or RS4 around a track.
