Yes, but Mercedes clearly designed cars with the four-lamp design before Lexus.

And, besides having seperate driving lights from turn signals, there's nothing about the SC300/400 that looks anything like the previous GS. Lexus designs aren't very consistent.

Everybody has copied somebody one way or another. The last generation GS's headlamps was directly from the E class. This current GS gives me the impression of the E class headlamps with a BMW 6 series design.

No one is immune from copying other automanufacturers, its just the way how business goes in the auto industry.

Personally, from this photoshop impression, I'm not a fan of the new headlamp design from MB. Sadly, from an attempt to recopy from its copier the GS, it did a worse job. I like the new GS' headlamps better than this image from what we can see.

Maybe, once it comes out, the new E class will look much better in the flesh.

Why are we coming to conclusions? This is a PHOTOSHOP. The artist THINKS the next E-Class will look like this.

Well if you want to talk about having four lights on the front another example would be the 1982 Mercedes 300TD Turbo-Diesel wagon. This came out before Lexus was even created.

Wow, I've got the same response like most everyone here.

I...really can't say either way. It *looks* like it might be promising. Just drop that God-awful color, and I'm still going to have to mull the new lights a bit. I'm a bit old-fashioned with the curvy/circle head lights.

I just realized that this is a C-Class photoshop. It's the exact same hideous color from the W204's (?) new press release.

This isn't the E class, the new E class will be just medium size S class, just like the small size C is.

They're not three sizes of the same car. All three have different designs, although the C has always looked more like the S than the E has.

Yeah! definitely look like a copy cat of the the Lexus GS headlight. Especially, the two small one closer to the center of the car. But of course, the Lexus GS look way better than this for sure.

ugly, it looks like, if they fix it up a little it might look nice. but in that case it would look exactly like the gs430. which is beautiful.

I love how people here through final predictions on a company/car from a photoshop...This is NOT the 2009 E class, it is an artist impression...If their is one car company who has always delivered with their designs it is Mercedes-Benz...

I hope they don't go with the rumored Lexus GS headlights...That would just make these Lexus fan boy's life.

WOW! This is like the ugliest Mercedes it could ever be built. I really hope this is a mistake, becouse it looks like their design director is a BMW agent undercover, trying to embarass this company and Mercedes fans all over the world! I already think the new C class is uglier than the actual C class, but this new E class... it frightens me! BMW's Bangle design revolution is pure art comparing to this Mercedes new design line! Lexus headlamps+ Mercedes grille + american massivity= Merc???

No I'm talking about having 4 separate light housings, not just 4 lights. The 300TD's headlights are in 2 housings only.

It doesn't matter how many housings you have but the fact of the matter is Mercedes had the 4 light styling way before Lexus was even created. Lexus came out in 1989 I believe? That is after Merc first started using that look 4 light look. It's okay though don't worry i'm not going to start a flame war so all ladies from the Lexus groupies will start ranting on about this and that. I already stated my point. I'm sure people will agree with me. That's also why they have boosted me. To clarify one thing, this is not my biased opinion, i'm just stating the facts. I'm not putting down Lexus either as I think they have some nice builds. But they aren't the best at everything like some of the fans think and sure as hell not the top innovator in the auto industry. Remember who first had Anti-Lock brakes, 3 point seat belts, SAT-NAV and all those goodies. That would be Mercedes (again facts not my opinion). Enough said. Boost me guys if you support what i'm trying to say!

Hey, i'm a true Merc guy, but i just got to say those headlamps are just Lexus GS430 headlamps. It's disappointing. I hate the new line of design. It's should've been original, it should've been better than the actual E Class design, but it's not. It's worse.

If you're a true Merc fan then you should know who was first to use quad lights on the front end design.

IMO, the headlight area looks too busy/has too many lines. Otherwise, quite nice.

I really wish Lexus would stop copying the E-Class with their G car.

It's okay to have imitators because MB is an innovator. Some have opinions and may talk down on Merc but it's not about anyone's opinion. It's all about the facts. The S-Class is the pinnacle in automotive engineering with up to date technology. All the cars who come with SAT-NAV and ABS all followed the footsteps of Mercedes.

Why are people taking this photoshop so seriously?

This is the sad story of first mover advantage. MB is consistent and hence predictable enough when it comes to their designs. even i knew that this car if not released before the lexus GS, was going to face this sort of flack. Where else could MB go with the E-class design whilst trying to maintain the traditional four front headlights?

I'm sorry MB fans, but the current E class car really doesn't look too good. It's as boring as you MB fans have said about Lexus (even the E55) I've always been an E class fan but I think it looks like a $20,000 car. This drawing looks good. It looks like a little S class.

The good news is that it's only a Photochop. The bad news is that there is evidence that suggests that Mercedes Benz is getting into the Asian styling cues. Swoopy headlights and a distinctly less German style.

BMW has been on that "I Think I'm Turning Japanese" page for a few years now. I guess now that Mercedes is heading there, it makes it "right" :-(
