Run your car on hydrogen today?

Saturday’s San Francisco Chronicle reported on a Livermore inventor who claims he can increase your car’s gas mileage 20 to 40 percent with a hydrogen-generating device fitted under the hood. David Jewell is selling the devices for $800 a pop through his website, National Vapor Industries.

Don't you think that the manufacturers would make the most fuel efficient engines possible?

If there is a carburettor involved than you have an engine that has old technology and is far from good efficiency. I doubt this would work (have any benefit) for any modern car. Maybe it can work for a 1960 junker.
