VW Refreshes The Touareg for 2007

VW Refreshes The Touareg for 2007
German publication Autobild, has reviewed Volkswagen’s facelifted SUV - the Touareg.

After selling around 300,000 Touaregs, Volkswagen has freshened up their (slightly less uglier than the Cayenne) off-roader. The main external differences are its new grille, headlights and LED rear lights. Under the skin, there’s new technology, including ABS+ (which can shorten the braking distance of the Touareg on loose surfaces by upto 20 percent.)

Ever been in a Toureg or a Phaeton at night? There's so much light-up stuff around the interior, you feel like Homer Simpson in the control room of the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant. It looks like they preserved the proliferation of light-up switches in the refresh.

What's the deal with that spare tire? Does it swing up with the hatch? Must be an engineering miracle, heck I can barely wrestle mine out a my trunk when I have a flat.

the spare on the back isn't standard, you can do the same thing on the cayenne.

For some reason I think the Touareg looks dated to me. Exterior and Interior. Even with the refresh.

I've always hated how Toureg owners move both roof rack crossbars to the rear trying to make a "spoiler".

Touregs still look good, but they are starting to show their age. The interior color in the photos there is nice.

I think that the old one was very bland and dated, but I do like this new model. In a color other than Press Release Silver (YAWN!), it would probably look fresher. The interior is a masterpiece as usual... but I wish they hadn't put on that hideous custom rear tire for the press. Nobody's going to buy that, at least in America.

Yawn-Another SUV. Basically other than perhaps Land Rover ALL SUV's are ugly!! There is only so much you can due to a box. A box is a box is a box.Cars can be pretty, coupes can be pretty, crossovers and suv's cannot be pretty by there very design nature. I wished all governments outlawed them.

the toureg interior has always been really nice, its funny how much nicer it is than the more expensive cayenne, that shares its platform

I know, and all the magazines talk about is how "opulent" the Cayenne's interior is! I couldn't disagree more. I drove the Cayenne V6 (SLOW) and the Cayenne S (heavy) for my wife, and wasn't impressed with the interior décor at all. Cheap plastic dashboard, "aluminum" trim, and without the navigation, the interior could've come out of a new Mazda3.
