Should Ford Bring The Mondeo To The US?

In the old days, Ford would never have dreamed of calling the Mondeo a flagship. It was just too numerous and too ordinary.

Yet this is the bold label being placed on the all-new 2007 edition, due in Geneva in March, and on sale in the UK in June.

Why the rapid promotion? Because the family saloon market is nowhere near as mainstream as it used to be: for several years, buyers have been migrating in numbers to MPVs and premium saloons. These days more BMW 3-series are sold in big European markets than Mondeos and Vectras.

Ford has plenty of research to show that no one dislikes the current Mondeo. It’s just that too few people really desire it. This is the priority for the 2007 model: to offer styling that generates desire and back it with substance.

It’s a tough task but an important one: sales in this class still exceed 400,000-plus in Britain, and Ford believes it can carve itself a bigger slice.

Remember a few years ago when Ford was pushing the "global car platform" when they introduced the Focus a few years back? What happened to that? Our home market continues to get watered down product while superior products are sold overseas. What does that say about your company when you don't even trust your home market to know what a quality product is?

You know they should take the interior of the mondeo put it in the fusion and make the fusion have a coupe and a wagon and coupe. It has to get more horsepower n be RWD

They won't, they will drag their feet on this as aways, and complain about inhouse fighting etc. Then 5 years down the line toyota or MB will buy them out.

Then Bill Ford will have to start learning Japanese or German.

Hey hear is an idea bring it over. then price it so they are making money.. if its all that it will sell and Ford will make money. And just maybe Ford will learn that a good product will sell.. oh who I am kiddign they will cheapen it and throw rebates on it to sell.. I hope they bring it over as is..sell it at the price it says without rebates..
