VIDEO: Spies test the new BMW 335i Convertible

Agent008 and myself were putting this new car through its paces out in the Arizona desert earlier this month. For the first time in a long time we both agreed this was one convertible we'd really enjoy owning and driving day to day. The 335's engine has gobs of power at any RPM and top up, or top down, it still looks the business.

Check for our detailed review of the car later today, until then, enjoy the video of the new BMW 335i Convertible.

nice video guys, one request, redo the scenes where you are pushing the car to the limit and remove the cheesy music, instead, let us hear the engine growl like we heard in the mountain tunnel.

Autospies Note: I can't see the video in Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.1

I did check it out on IE7 though & it was a good vid. I could have skipped the driving set to music though.

You didn't mention cowl shake. Is it present? Does the handling become Coupe-like with the top up?

I think everyone should be giving BMW hell for not having an LSD on this car. When one of my friends bought a Z8, I was shocked to learn that it did not have an LSD. Traction control can mask the lack of an LSD, but I perfer to drive the car without electronic aids. Honestly, I will admit today's cars are getting to the upper limits of my driving ability so I probably would be better served leaving the electronic Nanny on, but I am a stubborn guy.

I also have to admit I was able to drift an RS4 to as much of an extent as I would feel comfortable on public roads without deactivating the electronic aids. That is great! (Although I would have still taken the time to figure out how to disable it if I had a bit more time with the car.

Agent 004, nice video overall.

I'm not sure why BMW decided not to stick the LSD on the Z8, but for this car, I think it might have to do more with 1) cost, 2) closing the gap too much between the 335 and the M3 Vert. This_car_is_quick, and handles surprisingly well. Definitely detter than you would expect from a vert for sure. The full review gets released tonight, so you should find lots more detail about the drive, there.

nice vid, the car doesnt look as good as i thought, maybe its the rims, but ill wait to see it in person.

You're right its the rims - the vehicle in the picture has the sports package I think and not the stock wheels, the stock ones are probably going to be 5-spoke.

I ordered the BMW335i Convertible pretty loaded a couple of weeks ago - the local dealership advised against the Sports package and I took their advice.

It'll be my first German car for 4 or 5 years [after bad experiences with Mercs] and perfect for the South Florida weather.

I wish you lots of fun miles on your new 335i, I'm curious about your dealer talking you out of sports package. I've owned a bunch of BMW's with and witout, and I would never buy another BMW without it. Sports package is way more than a slightly firmer ride. You may want to reconsider adding sports package.

i need one of these. I think BMW did a great job in terms of performance/handling and design. I test drive the coupe one and loved the responsive engine and can't wait to test drive this one.

I look forward to reading it. They were supposedly going to have this car at the Cincinnati Auto Show this week and I was excited to see it in person tonight. Now they're not so reading about it will have to do.

Can someone tell me what the exterior color was on the car used in the video? Is that Space Gray Metallic? Thanks in advance...
