DCX: We May Dump Chrysler

This is the bottom line. When the economy and auto buying trends show that americans are moving away from gas-guzzling vehicles and towards fuel-efficient models, Chrysler keeps popping out a new SUV every other month. Then the SUV sits on the dealers lots for months on end, and they wonder why the cars aren't selling.

They bring out the 300c a couple of years ago, and it's a big hit. You would think they would build on that success by offering variations like a coupe or convertible. But nothing in all this time. They were on a hot streak two years ago, but for some strange reason, they couldn't keep it up. I hate for people to lose their jobs, but it's Chrysler's fault.

It was the Shrimp-man’s failed dream to combine MB, Chrysler, Mitsubishi and turn them into a world power house. Well, time to end that nightmare Dr. Z! Do the right thing and chop!

Well, Chrysler kind of is Mercedes's problem. It loses their money- and if it weren't for the "C", DCX would be profitable.

It was considered that but later understood that Mercedes bought Chrysler. Mercedes is an immensely profitable company Chrysler is not. DCX still makes money every year while writing $1.3 billion checks to Chrysler so they will stay afloat. I dont think that selling Chrysler is the answer though. What they need to do is streamline. They make some good products which make good profits. Focus on those and cut out the fluff. The Ram, Grand Cherokee, 300 and Caravan all do very well. Imagine how much they would save by cutting out the Cars like the Liberty, Caliber and Nitro?

They need small cars to survive in the coming years. Hatchbacks and crossovers are making a comeback in the US. Instead of dropping cars like the Caliber, they should simply improve them. Improve them A LOT. Although, I do think they should scrap the hideous Compass.

The Caliber needs to go away. It's a bigger waste of money to try and fix it then just start from scratch I would imagine. They had a good market share with the Neon and PT Cruiser but both of those are so old now that the market is flooded and there are better options. A redesign of the Neon base would be a good way of getting back into the small vehicle market.

i drove the Dodge Charger yesterday, MAN my heart was pumping! i was passing everyone especially the 5 series guys, the engine was so torquey! shame if they dump dodge, i now understand why the muscle car guys are so fanatical about their cars.

You probably passed a lot of 5 series guys that didn't take notice of you in a Dodge. Not to say the RT version is probably much faster than all but the 550i's and M5's.

Looks like Daimler got taken to the cleaners with Chrysler. Daimler threw too much money at them and not enough platforms. It would be smart for Daimler to sell them off, but thats a tough buyer to find.

There is no way anyone would want Chrysler. Not at this point where there lineup needs a true makeover. The 300C is still a pretty hot car but that's the only hot car coming out of the Chrysler group. Wait I forgot the Charger SRT8, it looks alright as well. But the rest of the group needs major reconstruction. In what aspect? the design aspect. The Chrysler look must be changed as well as it's materials. Chrysler calls themselves a luxury brand but it's not even close to being competitive with Lincoln or Cadillac (IMO the two brands that Chrysler SHOULD have targeted from the get go). The JEEP lineup has gone to shame with their ugly boxy looks. Basically a revampe of the Chrysler Group may boost up Chryslers sales and reputation. Then this comes at a huge cost. Money from MB

I still haven't forgave Chrysler for the all new Sebring.
