Report: Chrysler and GM to team up for large SUV

CEO of DaimlerChrysler said he is looking to use his new alliances to double sales outside of North America. Currently DaimlerChrysler sales outside of North America are about 200,000, which the CEO emphasized need to increase substantially. Wall Street Journal is reporting that DaimlerChrysler is in talks with GM on developing a large SUV in order to increase sales.

Talks have been going on for about six months, but the two companies have yet to reach a final decision. The DaimlerChrysler group is already included in many other deals such as a minivan with Volkswagen.

Just what Chrysler doesn't need - an increased focus on international markets when it is declining at home - how does this make sense?

if it does well internationally that cancels out doing poorly at home. chrysler and dodge are both going up in europe, need the new voyager soon though.

But no doubt the German influence and the help from GM would be only beneficial to the Chrysler group.
