The SLR just seems un-needed when the SL looks so similar and can be pretty fast in its own right.

It is weird how the styling cues on the SLR work better on the smaller/shorter SLK.

I respectfully disagree with everything you said :) The SL65 is fast but it's not nearly the performer that the SLR is, never mind the styling. I think the SLR styling looks much better in the meatier/bigger form than the smaller SLK. And, I even like the turbine wheels... but that's just me :)

And SLR in real life looks nothing like an SL, it's really different. Really low and menacing.
And I hate the SLK's styling, especially with the stupid nose.

I actually like the coupe better with the doors that open up the way they do. SL and SLR is no comparison even though they have some strikingly similar styling cues. In person there is a huge difference. SLR some asks for heads to turn as the SL is more toned down. I was lucky enough to test drive one and I must say when i drove it over a bridge the pedestrians on the sidewalks turned around before I even passed them. It was a pleasant to drive, very controllable, and very tame for a hyper-car.
