Insurance companies don't have a “one-size-fits-all” way to price their policies. Your insurance rates are based on a lot of factors. And one of those factors is the kind of car you drive.

They are also probably the first cars to void their warrenty and insurance due to mods, i don't think i have ever seen a stock STi or EVO thats not on a dealer lot. Maybe thats why japaneese cars have long warrenties, because they know a certain percent will mod them and through away the warrenty. I'm sure it came up at a boardroom anyway.

They are the most expensive to insure because they are more commonly sold and the insurance company makes more money off them. That and they have a higher probability of being stolen.

OK, heres the rule: if you don't read the article, don't comment. It clearly states that NONE of these vehicles are on the most stolen list. And your logic about being the best sellers is silly. Why isn't the camry on there? why isn't the 3 series on there? why isn't the F-150 on there? None of those vehicles are best sellers.

I am very surprised by the XC90 on the cheapest to insure list. Thats a pretty premium vehicle.

it britain it's done by insurance groups - 1-20. 20 is the most expenisive, 1 the cheapest. That's just the car though, then you factor in where you live, your age, everything about the driver. It's based on costs of repair, so common cars actually have lower insurance groups due to availability of parts.

The reason these cars are expensive to insure is because they are either expensive cars & epensive to repair,(Jaguar XJ & XK have a lot of aluminum which expensive to repair) or they are fast cars that are bought and driven by young men(EVO,SRT-4,and WRX.No Corvette, older people by those).
