Name Some of the Coolest License Plates You Have Had or Seen
A game of cat and mouse? That seems to be the game between state licensing agencies and crafty vanity plate applicants. What can you get away with on a vanity plate and not have the censors slap you on the hand?

Our friends over at www.coolpl8z.com have assembled one of the best collections of vanity plates we have ever seen. It never ceases to amaze us how creative and funny the messages can be.

Vanity plates are a becoming a big revenue stream for many states and their popularity is growing. So we would expect the list to become more creative as time goes by.

What are some you have had or seen?

There is a list on TheSmokingGun of banned liscence plates in different states.

Some are really funny.

They even ban liscence plates with profanities spelled backward and in reverse so that when people look in their rear view mirror they see it spelled out.

OMG this letter is so funny, he is defending his use of the license plate "GETN SUM"

http://www.thesmokinggun.com/blueplate/flatags11.html

he tells the director to change his name because if GETN SUM is objectionable, then DICKinson is also offensive.

Today, I saw one that said "LUVS GOD". It was on a purple Lexus ES300 with a hideous gold emblem package. I didn't even know that was allowed in Illinois- I was horrified.

Nag - on a merc.

R4ce - on a porsche

it's different in britain, you can't have just any old number letter combo. has to come from a list and match number plate styles.
I can get R13UPE for 250 pounds :D

Will, I agree.

LeMans, do you hate Lexus with that much intensity?

It's quite stupid to display your hatred on a $50 license plate in vain.

if i were a shrink, i'd say he willingly spends that $50 to cover his insecurity for not making the WISEST choice.

BMWKLR on an RS4 that I see regularly around here.

From the link, I almost fell out of my chair reading the Florida plate on the Lincoln LS. The fact that it's state issued and not a vanity plate certifies it the best license plate of all time.

On the 10 freeway in Los Angeles, I spotted a Porche Cayenne with the license plate "BNRS CYN". I didn't get it, so I passed it, and saw a Mexican guy driving it. Then I understood.

I'm not joking, either. Sounds like something Carlos Mencia would put on his car

I saw a license plate with "oops". Someone rear ended the car and he didnt bother to fix it. He's been driving it that way for months now without fixing it. I think it hilarious but dumb.
