After A 22nd Place Finish Toyota Looks Beyond Daytona

Race winner Jack Sprague helped Toyota take four of the top-five spots in Friday night's Craftsman Truck Series event. Dave Blaney drove his Camry to a second-place finish Saturday in the carmaker's debut on the Busch circuit. NASCAR's newest manufacturer enjoyed quite a week at Daytona International Speedway.

Except for the Nextel Cup Series.

A Speedweeks that began with Toyota's flagship program facing cheating allegations ended Sunday, when Dale Jarrett's 22nd-place finish was the best among the four Camrys that made the Daytona 500 field. Blaney and David Reutimann finished well down the chart after getting caught up in accidents, while Michael Waltrip brought his scandal-plagued car home in 30th.

But afterward, as the crowd filed out of the giant frontstretch grandstand and night settled over the speedway, Toyota executives seemed anything but disappointed.

Toyota will dominate Nextel cup racing like they do in Truck racing.
To win a NASCAR racing, you need a lot of luck. Toyota need to put more cars up there.

no to win a Nascar racing u need to start out in front. like in the daytona 500 the same people were up there with a big line of cars behind them, if one of those cars back in the line started out in front i bet he would of stayed in the front. but i liked the last lap, it was pretty cool.

what are you talking about? Harvick went from 30 something place with 15 laps to go to winning the whole thing. there was a damn green, white, checker finish...it was anyone's race...starting in front has nothing to do with anything. it has to do with who has the tightest, fastest machine and the best driver. the pole sitter has never won the 500 i don't think.

all the cars are fastest each other, how come half way through the race the person who had the fastest lap was all the way in the 28th place.
