Toyota Announces Pricing for Camry Hybrid 50th Anniversary Edition
Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today announced manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) for the 2007 Camry Hybrid 50th Anniversary Edition. The limited edition Camry Hybrid celebrates Toyota's 50 years of business in the United States.

This specially badged Camry Hybrid comes with features exclusive only to the 50th Anniversary Edition. Its stunning Blizzard Pearl paint, unique 16-inch alloy wheels with a graphite finish, and exterior "50th Anniversary Edition" badging are just some of the 50th Anniversary exclusives not available on any other Camry. A power moonroof and heated power outside mirrors are also standard.

Inside, the Camry Hybrid is equipped with a voice-activated DVD navigation system with a four-disc changer, leather-trimmed bisque-colored interior, heated front seats, and a carpeted cargo mat. Unique interior features include brushed stainless dash applique, illuminated front door sills, and carpeted floor mats with the "50th Anniversary Edition" logo.

Only 3,000 units will be built at Toyota Motor Manufacturing in Kentucky. The 50th Anniversary Edition will carry a base manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $31,680 and will start arriving at Toyota dealerships in March.

3,000 is a surprisingly small number of vehicles - presumably Toyota reserves the right to add to that number?

I truly hate how Toyota bowed to pressure from customers wanting to "flash" their hybrids by slapping those side Hybrid badges on the Camry and Lexus RX. Just looks dumb.

This special edition Camry looks nice though.

The logo mars what could have been an interesting grille design.

How the hell can justify calling a Camry beautiful? Ferrari's, Lambos and Aston Martins are beautiful, the Camry is an appliance.

Please don't be such big fans of Toyota. We all know that the Camry isn't beautiful. If you want to see a beautiful look at Alfas and Astons (Look at the 8C).

What I mean by such "big fans" is that don't let yourself be blinded to reality.

No. Toyota celebrates 50 years of business in the United States.

Hybrids are the core technology of future for Toyota. So, new Camry hybrid is the most appropriate car for Toyota to celebrate.

009, nice press release you "wrote."

"Stunning Blizzard Pearl paint"? More like "white."

And the Camry is just so, so, so ugly... why couldn't they have kept it inoffensive?

Their truck designers are much better. Look at the RAV4! Well, maybe not the Tundra and new Highlander designers, but you get the point.

I'd rather have an Accord Hybrid before it goes out of production.

s4, you are so OUT OF TOUCH with public tastes, you're better off just keeping your ignorance to yourself rather than broadcasting it to the world.

if "the Camry is just so, so, so ugly..." then howcum it is selling at the fastest pace ever?

yes, you SHOULD grab an accord hybrid before it goes out of production...FOR WANT of lines of customers like the toyota hybrids have! ;)

ApexAlex, nobody buys this car because it looks good. Camry buyers don't give a rat's @ss about how it looks. They just want a comfortable, reliable sedan for everyday transportation. No frills- just an easy car. If everyone bought a car at this price because it looked good, the Mazda6 and Legacy would be the most popular cars in the US.

so what about the stories of buyers following car carriers to toyota stores, so they can grab an '07 camry?

toyota offers TONS of reliable vehicles. (well, just the corolla and avalon are the main other SEDANS. plus the Pruis of course.)

we never heard stories of other toyota models generating so much buyer interest. (except the Prius of course. and many stick in the mud types claimed THAT was ugly too.)

Hahahah a-alex with the right comment once again, ouch. Anyways the camry may not be an supersport car, but then again a car doesnt have 2 b it so that it can b classified as beautiful. And so that u can understand, the #1 reason overall for buying a car is styling, and in my oppinion the car looks good, it maynot be the most beautiful but still its bood.

K-Soze, when i was younger, i would've agreed wholeheartedly with your view of 4drs.

historically, 2 doors were just the "cheap" models; there were premiums paid for 4 doors. but then, the 2 door coupes evolved to being "more sporty" than "stodgy 4 doors."

HOWEVER, as the "sport sedan" evolved, what SLIGHT advantage 2 drs had in REAL performance, diminished, and in many cases, DISAPPEARED.
further as the Boomer generation matured, PRACTICALITY rose in priority, and sportiness lowered.

today, IMAGE has also become a significant factor, and even a high PRIORITY for certain people. BUT, self assured, SELF CONFIDENT folk, don't put that much priority on that either.

at a local auto show some years back, i was looking at a Z car. then i looked at the Maxima (then being touted as "The 4-door Sports Car") and i was impressed enuff that i would have chosen that, if i were in the market. i mentioned this to the nissan representative, and he was only MODERATELY surprised. said others have expressed like feelings, and he WAS surprised how many "sporting types" were warming up to well designed 4-dr sedans lately.

imho, that trend has continued. and the slew of good looking 4drs has both responded to, and fueled this demand.

once, i was admiring a classic brit sports car. yet, with my automotive knowledge, i also realized that TODAY, even your most basic econobox is a more "sporting" set of wheels than that charming BUT ANTIQUE machine.

today, just about ANY modern car will handle and perform better than the old classic TRUE sports cars.

bottom line, IMAGE does count for more, for a lot of people, than TRUE automotive performance. BUT...
there are FEW automotive slouches today, even among family sedans.

my priorities now place convenience and reliability FAR higher than image. and i have NOT slowed in the way i drive either. if anything, i drive FASTER NOW, being wiser and more wiley in evading cops. and also being STEALTHIER in an "innocuous sedan!"

(and when on my motorcycle, i drive SLOWER! being more visible and vulnerable.)

so REAL, practical speediness, is today more a function of the individual DRIVER, rather than WHAT he drives.

what you said re "appliances": who can hate a reliable appliance? can any appliance NOT reliable stay in the marketplace for long? NO!

so "appliance" has become almost synonymous with "RELIABLE." recall the old Maytag commercials? well all their competitors have likewise had up reliability. so just about ALL appliances today ARE reliable.

BUT it seems, some people have made that word a pejorative, because THEIR favorite cars are NOT as reliable as "appliance like" RELIABLE toyotas and hondas.

i love driving. almost ANYTHING. i hate having to deal with SERVICE and REPAIR shops! until german cars can MATCH japanese ones in RELIABILITY, i'll easily forego the "magic feel" for more time ON the road, less time in service bays.
