Report: Acura back to the drawing board with the NSX

When Acura unveiled the new Advanced Sports Car Concept at the Detroit Auto Show, everyone went crazy saying that the car “dynamically styled concept which provides a preview of the design direction for the successor to the Acura NSX.” While it’s being said that Acura would unveil a full blown NSX concept with a V10 engine at the upcoming Tokyo Show in October, don’t hold your breath just yet.

A source familiar with the Tokyo Show car has told WindingRoad that the concept won’t be for real and that Acura has completely ripped the whole Advanced Sports Car Concept script and will start from scratch since top Honda management isn’t happy with where the car is headed.

Unfortunately, the source reported that the front-engine V10 and all-wheel-drive will stay on board.

I didn't really like the concept. Way too much concept and too little real preview. Concepts with no interiors are just that, concepts that will never go into prodcution.

thats bad news, i was excited i was thinking the change was going to be to go back to the hsc concept, with mid engine, i didnt like this concept not that its not nice looking its just totally unoriginal it looks like a japanese corvette, go back to midengined, and unique

True, but it's a Honda. They usually do pretty good as far as design goes. I bet I'll like the new NSX. But then again, who knows?

Whatever Acura does with the NSX, they need to do it quick. The next NSX has to be there for the Japanese supercar comparison tests (LFA/NSX/GTR).

Not surprised at all after seeing the stunning LF-A version 2.

That Acura concept virtually has nothing stand out even the stacked-quad tailpipes are a copy of IS-F's.

EL34, shut up. I have a soft spot for Acura- specifically, their sportier models. TL/RL aren't great, but RDX, RSX/Integra, TSX and NSX are and were. You'd have to own something other than a German car to understand.

What car do you drive, anyway? A 1997 C180?
