Cadillac CTS coupe and wagon coming, plus an Audi A3-fighter for Europe

Cadillac launched the new 2008 Cadillac CTS at the Detroit Auto Show last month where it received a lot of spotlight, and now the GM company is getting even more serious and is expanding the line with a wagon and coupe variant of its best-selling model. Hoping to gain popularity mostly in Europe, the move with a wagon and coupe variant will give Cadillac more room to compete with Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz who have such variants of their entry-level sedans.

Cadillac is also planning a three-door hatchback that will compete with the Audi A3, which we think is kind of stupid since we can’t imagine a baby Cadillac.

The Cadillac CTS coupe is expected to launch in the 2010 model year along with the hatchback, while the Cadillac CTS wagon is expected to show up in the 2009 model year.

Look like Cadillac is trying heat thing up. From the image above I think they will have a really chance. The Cadillac CTS/V is the only Cadillac that I like or would like own.

The new CTS has the look of the Sixteen Concept which in my opinion should be what Cadillac is about. I've seen it in person and it really shows what Cadillac can do if they try hard enough. Now in terms of funding projects like that into their production cars that's another question.

IMO if Cadillac builds better interiors with better materials they can be a true contender in the upper luxury market. They certainly have the image of being a high end luxury automaker but they need to make more appealing interiors with more high quality materials. For example the XLR looks stunning in person but it's interior that is too simple for anyone to pay 100K for a Cadillac when they can get a Benz, BMW, Audi, or a Lexus, realistically speaking.

Their Cadillac CTS/CTS-V and the Cadillac STS/STS-V look stunning in my opinion. But the problem it seem like they doing a half a$$ job, if you what I mean. The exterior look very good but the interior, like you say, need better materials. Hopefully they will get it right this with the new Cadillac CTS.
