Actually, in regards to this article, did the journalists retrieve these figures themselves, using a data logger system, or did they just quote the Lexus LS press pack?

And what do German magazines have to do with an Autoweek article?

This article is pretty irrelevant if you ask me.

Too bad that Car and Driver and many others have gotten pickup truck like braking distances on the LS. It is probably because of the Touring Package or something like that. But go ahead and tell Lexus owners after they experience the poor braking for themselfs.

I was pretty sure it was American.
And I'm pretty sure many other magazines that mentioned Lexus LS poor breaking were not German.

It is all a matter of personal taste, and for me, the Lexus just doesn't do it for me.

You mean biased AGAINST Lexus, and TOWARDS the German cars. But even that is false.

And yes, how do you know they weren't just quoting Lexus's numbers? You see many magazines quoting manufacturers' times for 0-60mph, fuel economy, braking... one example of the manufacturer's number being wrong came up just today. Audi, always conservative when it comes to 0-60, said the R8 pulled it off in 4.6 seconds. That was done away with when Car & Driver propelled it to 60mph in just FOUR SECONDS FLAT. That's as good as what we predicted, if not better.

And, does one magazine article combat at least four or five others that have said the LS460 has horrible brakes?

Why would they be biased? What would that achieve? Do the German magazines have a share holding in Mercedes or Audi or BMW? They have no reason to be biased, and as LeMansFan says, American, French, German and British magazines have all commented on the poor braking distance. I sincerly doubt they are all biased, and it is a very childish thing to claim bias when your favourite doesn't win, no matter how many reasons there are for not winning. It's pathetic. Do the Audi fans claim bias when the A8 doesn't win? Do the BMW, Mercedes or Acura fans claim bias when their car doesn't win? No, because we can understand the car's shortcomings, and the reasons for its loss.
And you can't even get the title right, you want to say biased against lexus, not towards it. Idiot.

I also think it is funny you completely ignore this bit of the article:
Acceleration is brisk, hitting 60 mph from a standstill in 6.29 seconds.
In the slalom, the Lexus falls behind, with a reasonable top speed of 41.5 mph, but a VW Phaeton (43.8 mph), a Mercedes S-Class (43.3 mph) and an Audi A8L (44.9 mph) all turned in quicker speeds.

Look at the acceleration times. Lexus claims 5.4, this magazine got 6.2. Lexus always over estimate times. And the VW Phaeton out-handles it!

It is interesting to see how much outrage and defensiveness that this post has created...the ususal suspects too.

If you want reliability built with older proven technology and gimmicks which only make the car heavier and impede on the cars driving performance, handling and braking buy a Lexus. But if you want true world wide recognized prestige with the most advanced technologies and high amounts of advance lightweight materials like magnesium combined with unmatched performance, buy a high end BMW, Mercedes or Audi. Even in Japan where I've been to twice Lexus is not regarded as highly as a Mercedes, BMW or Audi.

i dont think so, car & driver had a pre production car, im not sure if anyone know what that is or read it but THEY SAID THAT. but i cant argue what these mags be saying, i know a couple of well respected mags that i like which include top gear said some real stuff that i already know. anyhow i think C&D decision was true, lexus isnt a sport luxury car, its just a luxury car that can compete wit the likes of MB, BMW n audi, simple, alot of germans dont like that a toyota can compete with there best but IT IS as far as who's the best, i give it to the driver at that dealer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
