WTF Happened? : BMW M3 CSL Total Loss at Nurburgring

We’re fully aware that no words can take the pain off a loss like this but we’ll agree with the folks over at "bimmerforums" who noted that at least the BMW M3 CSL died doing what is was made for at the best place in the world it could do it. Interestingly enough in the same forum we discovered a link pointing out to the German eBay revealing that the totaled BMW M3 CSL is up for sale for 29.900 EUR or 39.400 USD. New rims apart, looks like it’s the same car but we can’t vouch for it.

Well, the CSL is a track car, you need some skills to drive it. Or in other words it magnifies your mistakes.

When did he say the CSL wasn't a good car?

It's a beauty. Just a bit too intense for my tastes. Normal M3 is fine-- I'm not going to be track-testing at the Nürburgring.

Have you even driven a CSL?

Or do you think a picture of a crashed one is enough to give you a definitive opinion on the car?

It's more hardcore then anything to come out of Japan except maybe the nsx-r.

The ring record for the M3 CSL is 7:50, faster then any Ferrari, Mclaren Mercedes SLR, Lambo Gallardo, 996 Turbo and so on. Not to mention allot faster then any Japanese car.
The only japanese car to rival it was a 750hp Supra with also a 7:50, and considering that is MORE then twice the amount of power it shouldn't be much of a challange.

That whas a tuned Supra with 750hp against the CSL which has only 360hp. Read what i say.

What the hell?

The CSL doesn't have 'too much' BHP, the engineers devoted their efforts to weight reduction and chassis honing to make a more focussed M3, not the engine.

Didn't you know that?

I wouldn't expect you would.
