Not that the 5 Series doesn't look good-- it does.

But that, without seeing it or knowing anything about it, you say it's #1.

The 5 is one of the best cars, you can buy. Way better than the e class, or the a6.

"Ihatemercs" why is the 5 so much better than the E-Class & A6?

Majority of people will say it's uglier than both the E & A6 (which are very handsome car's), not to mention an interior that's by no means class leading. All it has is the performance edge which is usually my deciding factor, but I just can't see past those headlights.

Everyone should know by now BMW is my favourite auto-maker, but I hate the current 5er because it ruined something great & above all class leading.

I agree about the interior, though I like the looks of the 5 outside. Wait until you see the new 5-series interior in a few months though. The performance goes waaaaay up, and the interior from the new X5 gets grafted in there (ignore the posts you see on here by people who have never even sat in the new X5 or just hate BMW's, the new X5 interior is head and shoulders nicer than any other car in the class). The two weakest points about the car, power and interior, are both being upgraded. 535xi for me please...

The only difference between the current E60 and the refreshed version (on the inside) is that the new one has rearranged doors, with more wood. The dash will remain the same, but it will get the X5's new shift lever. To sum up, the 5's interior really won't improve much.

The X5's interior is quite nice, but what exactly IS its competition? Q7 is ten inches longer, and so is the GL. Both of those are (slightly) nicer on the inside. It's nicer than the MDX, and I guess that would be its direct competition. It's about the same as the ML IMO. You'd have to spend time in the ML's vastly improved interior to appreciate it.

BTW, I didn't think the 530i was lacking in power. It kept up with the competition due to its low weight. The 535 is a welcomed improvement, though.

See, I'm not bashing you (what you said was true), but I have a different TASTE.

Like MunichRob, I don't love my brand's midsize sedan. The A6 is stylish and I do love its interior, but it's overweight, and compared to my old A6 2.7T, gets very relatively expensive quickly.

I really like the way the 5 looks and the new 535i should be good. However, I don't like the interior. It gives me a headache. And the only difference between the current model and the 2008 interior is that there's more wood on the doors.

I love the E. IMO it's the best in this class.
