Just in: Canadian auto sales for February

The Canadian auto market was relatively flat in February with a slight drop of 0.3%. Import manufacturers continue to pick up steam with sales rising by over 7.0%, while sales for the domestics were off by 6.0% compared to Feb. '06.

in luxury car sales ... if you look at the numbers, you will see BMW is number 1 not only in Canada but in the entire North American Continent

lexus admirer ... simple math ...
Lexus sold 22,504 in the US + 801 units in Canada = 23,305 cars sold in North America

BMW sold 22,274 in US + 1377 in Canada = 23,651 sold in North America .... Thus BMW is #1 in North America

Why is that so difficult?

Your logic is flawed.

Why would you have to be #1 in the US to be #1 in NA?

The gap will widen eventually (between Lexus and BMW sales in US), and Lexus will probably pull ahead in the continent, but that's like saying you have to be #1 in Germany to be #1 in Europe. I don't really understand your comment, actually.

In the US Lexus may be higher but in North America as a whole BMW beats Lexus. The numbers done lie. Just face the facts don't try to counter it. Lexus fans are known to come up with excuses. I for one do not and i love the GS. But when you're beat you're beat. BMW's numbers show they have more sales. Simple as that.

The other side of the coin exists too though. I think its funny that certain BMW fans love to say it us number one, but use the word "common" and some take umbrage. I am not accusing, I am just saying.

BMW [3 series primarily] is common and really is not exclusive at all. Be that as it may, the 3-series is the best vehicle BMW makes precisely because they do produce a large number of that vehicle.

Exclusivity and high-volume sales are mutually exclusive.
