Redesigned '08 Ford Mondeo For Europe

While Americans are puttering about in boat-like 500's and Tauruses (Taurusi?) Europe is getting this redesigned Mondeo, available with diesel or gasonline powerplants, and an available six speed manual transmission.

Europe gets the cool lookin' Mondeo and we get the Ford Clunk Taurus.

It's no wonder why their sales are in the toilet!

I just can't see how Ford will be able to compete with GM in the coming years. Mullally has told us to be patient, the products are a few years away. But will it be too late?

Pontiac, Saturn, and Cadillac will be completely transformed by then. We're already seeing some of the payoffs in the latest GMT900 interiors. Not to mention the new CTS.

Is Ford's product life-cycle stretched to it's limit?

Here is a guess,
Next year, there will be a press release stating this car will come to the US. It may take the Crown Victoria or the New Taurus. Its the only way Ford will be able to make a come back.

It wouldn't replace the Crown Vic. They need those for rental car fleets, police agencies and taxi companies.

This Mondeo was in the Casino Royale movie. It looks really modern and stylish. Much much better than any American Ford model.
