OUCH!: Audi RS6, A Wet Road, Speeds Over 100 mph And Trees, Just Don't Mix
What you see is what you get, i.e. there was no cutting of the vehicle prior to the pictures being taken. It is my brother-in-law that you see holding the mobile phone, he honestly doesn't know the speed that he was going at but wasn't near as fast as he has done in the past on that particular part of the road.

Although the road was completely dry he said that it felt he was on ice and the car just careened into the tree. He actually called the emergency services and climbed out of the car by himself, he spent only a couple of hours in hospital, apart from a few minor scratches he got a bandage around his little finger, I told him if he's not already religious he should take it up ASAP!

The car WAS a pristine RS6 ABT, I was supposed to pick it up that very day to borrow it from him for a week as I've always wanted to try out the ABT version. He really should have simply told me that he didn't want me to drive his car I'm so happy he is alive and all in one piece.

so if he didn't get in a accident he would have been driving ok?

Oddly enough it was probably the vehicle speed that partially saved him. If the car had been stopped by the tree instead of slicing clean through, the force could have easily killed him at half that speed.

Althought he not currently hurt, probably he is still and in good health. But in the near future he might suffer from this trauma. I hope him the very best.

You sure that car wasn't cut by rescuers ? It's hard to believe (for me) a tree does that to a car.

ABT is awesome. Especially the new ABT S6. My dream wagon? The ABT S6 Avant, in either black/black or Sprint Blue/silver silk.

It doesn't look like they went off on the driver's side, can't see the passanger side.

AWD does not help much at such high speeds because of traction and because of aquaplanning.

Oh look another thread with the word audi in the title and there are about 2 dozen comments by the same people about the same stuff. this is deff. not getting old.

Well if you go by the NHTSA ratings or the Insurance Institute that does crash tests in this country you would conclude that Audi makes the overall safest vehicles pound for pound. You can deny it - but check the tests. Volvo and Mercedes don't match up. Perception doesn't always mean reality. Case in point there was a guy who worked at an Audi dealer in Long Island. He drove a TT which was caught on tape practically being run over by an 18 wheeler. The driver survived and was able to be interviewed by the news. He proudly proclaimed that he knew it was because of the Audi safety record. Now how come 60 Minutes didn't do an expose on that???

Wow can you brand fanboys stop battling it out like your defending your mom from rape.

Geez it's getting very very old. Luckily this guy is not dead, maybe because of his speed, or maybe because of the cars construction, but either way he is lucky.

Glad to hear he is alright.
