Why bother calling it a concept?

It's BEAUTIFUL. I expected nothing less- especially with the fabulous E92 as a basis.

Now that I think of it, I might need an M3 convertible. It wouldn't be $90K like the other S4 replacements I'm considering, drives better than all of them except the 911, has a hardtop, and oh, those looks...

I want an S5 COUPE as my winter car, with this for the other seasons. I neglected to say that in my comment.

Don't worry, I'm still loyal! Both of them are so tempting, I just wouldn't be able to choose. So I won't.

I dont get car companies moves like that too. Before introduction, we get the so and so "concept" when we ALL know its production...

Is the 4.0 V8 in this new M3 turbo/super charged?

No normally aspirated. They had taken the I6 pretty far out without Supercharging or Turbo in the last M3. The outgoing M3 produced 333hp in the states. Supercharging is something BMW has said they would not do. Mercedes AMG division is big on Supercharging. BMW just came back to Turbos after a long absence.

Well, AMG is into N/A engines now. Look at the 6.2L. I wouldn't be surprised if they made an A63 AMG with 500hp in the next decade, and a B63 with 520hp.

S/RS is the same way. The B6 S4 (my baby) paved the way for Audi's performance models to be naturally aspirated. Now, look at the RS4. Sweetest V8 engine on Earth... without turbochargers or a huge displacement (Merc, be listening).

I wouldn't be surprised if the new RS6 had twin-turbochargers, though. Like MB with the S65 AMG, Audi still needs turbocharging on its flagship performance sedan, to garner class-leading power. Yes, the RS6 is their flagship performance SEDAN. It's more powerful/faster than the S8 and it's a sedan, unlike the R8.

I'll just say this; I am not a fan of the hood bulge, but not because its is there. It does not look like it matches the styling of the car: it is just too smooth, there should be creases in it somewhere I think. But it looks like it is just sort of there and not really an integrated part of the car. That is just my two cents.

the rear more particularly the supposed rear diffusor looks horrrible. that includes the way the tips stem out.

I am a tad confused about the hood bulge like others. I totally dig the 'flame' surfacing which I normally refer to as tension filled surfaces, but the hood bulge is just pushed up. Then again I don't know how good it would even look with lines around the bulge.

So for now I will wait until I see it in person, and hope that BMW did what they did because it either looks good in person, or its a function over fashion situation, that had to be done.

Who knows, I can't wait to see it at the dealership :)

Josh

Why were all my comments de-boosted?

Two were pro-M3, and I didn't bash any car in both of those.

One was purely factual information about engine technology.

what is this boost thing and what is the purpose of it? why do people care about it?

Well, it's just incredibly annoying to be de-boosted, because you have to press the "Show Comment" button to see your own comment and reply to it; sometimes, the "Show Comment" button doesn't work.

Ironically, I boosted you up.
