you can't buy one. BMW give one to you and you are effectively a guinea pig, testing the car. Gives them publicity and means they don't have to employ people to drive the car endlessly in many conditions.

Lists like this are retarded. There is maybe one car on there that ows it place there to innovation, the others are nothing more than the incorporation of existing technology [computer and powertrain] into cars: and in some cases not for the first time. None of these cars have super efficient ceramic based-engines. This list is very cliche. It wasn't invented by an engineer I can guarantee. The automotive industry lags the engineering world in technologies, they are litterally like dead last. If you want super high technology machines: look into the Aerospace and Petroleum industries.

Give me a list of the technologies: I am not talking about trade names: the fundamental technology: that is all I want.

Thank you, you took the words right out of my mouth. I can see where the list was going with the other nine vehicles but the RDX? Other than SH-AWD, what the hell is so high tech about this vehicle???

Actually instead of the RDX I would have suggested the RL. It offerend the GPS assisted climate control, first to have SH-AWD, it had the active noise cancellation as part of the stereo, DVD-A and DTS support (yes I know others had this as well). The whole car was just loaded with technological goodies.

LS600h is in its own class, no competition and no comparison.

^DITTO. I heard the trunk space of the GS-H is poor. I dont know how true this is but maybe the size of the LS-H will play out better with the "Lexus Hybrid Drive" system. Doesnt it come in only LWB anyway?...

According to AMS, the standard LS460 can only take onboard 399 kg of load capacity, which is nothing.

The hybrid LS will automatically be heavier due to the hybrid system and that means this load capacity will shrink dramatically.

But the people who buy these cars don't care about that, right?

shouldn't the LS460 be on the list or thier self-parkin is not a technology.

I'm not going to even bother with this thread. WHY? the loyal Lexus fans will start speaking about the 'LEXURY' aspects of a Lexus and all the Honda's, Acura's, Nissan's, and Infiniti's will all be part of the argument to defend the JDM.

Then there will be the Loyal Euro fans who will support MB/Audi/BMW and the rest and it will be another flame war triggered from just a top 10 list of cars.

Well, these cars aren't high-tech:
Acura RDX SUV: $32,995
Audi R8: $120,000 - $130,000
Lexus LS Hybrid: Price not available yet
Mercedes-Benz S600: $140,675
Rolls Royce Drophead Coupe: $412,000

The R8 is nice, but it's not a technological tour de force, and the LS has lots of technology, but none of it very high tech.

Where is the transparency in something like this? That is why there needs to be lists of the fundamental technologies, that would force transparancy were other cars not on the list to be included as well in that list.

As it exists there is no understanding of the decision basis.

"What criteria were used?" Which cars are the highest tech.

"How was that determined?" We determined it

"Who the hell are you?" Forbes.

"What kind of expertise do you have in the area of technology such that you would be able to assess this situation?" ...NONE...

Terrible list. By this list's logic, every exotic should be on it. M6??? What does it have that qualifies it as on the cutting edge of high tech above an Aston Martin, Ferrari, AMG Merc, or anythng else in the 100's price range?

I dont think anyone would dipute the Veyron, but really there are only a few that have anything that separates them from the field, the criteria being hi-tech. Bluetec yes, even tho I am not sold on it until it can pass CA emissions standards. LS600hL, obviously yes, with hybrid, 8 speeds, parking, etc. Most of the rest of the list seems to be about having a powerful engine engine.

And dont get me started on the Hydrogen 7, a car that is only not considered a concept because BMW is giving a few of them away to well-healed buyers. If that's the criteria, where are the other hydrogen powered vehciles from Toyota and Honda that are already on the streets? And where's the Tesla?
