Scion Gets Challengers In Small Car Market
Witness the success of Toyota's Scion brand. The edgy, youth-oriented brand has been popular among both young and old alike.

So, apparently suffering Scion-envy, Kia is jumping on the small concept bandwagon with its new car called the Soul (pictured). Exhibited at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in 2006, it will be seen in markets in 2008. According to Brandweek, it seems that Kia has been studying the Scion for three years before its announcement. Should that be a surprise?

And Kia is not alone. Chrysler has an agreement with Chinese car manufacturer Chery for it to produce a small car for the Dodge nameplate. And General Motors has been offering the Aveo since 2004. What about Ford? It plans to enter the fray within the next couple of years. BMW will be offering a new Mini in 2009. ...continued

I believe that this segment will grow. I also believe that CUVs based on these vehicles will increase in popularity. Think Mini Moke concept.
