First look at the new baby Rolls Royce
This latest rendering give us a glimpse at a possible design for the new baby Rolls and shows that its designers will likely stick with the chiseled looks of the larger Phantom saloon. To cut development cost and time, engineers will use parts from BMW’s long-wheelbase 7-series but will utilize a powerplant that’s uniquely Rolls-Royce. Most of the shared parts will include various electronic components but the car “will have the attributes and behavior of a Rolls-Royce” said Robertson.

Hmmm....look at that. A PS'd Phantom with different headlights and just reduced by 20%.

I half imagined a little more effort.

So the 'baby' RR will be a 4dr saloon the length of the Drophead. Will the back end still be designed to look 'low'?

I half am tempted to create a post just for the Lexus morons that asks why they think Lexus will dominate everything.

But I'll just be like them and bring Lexus into every article.

And i would say again that Lexus will never, yes say it again....never compete in the class of the double RR or big B (even the Maybach for that matter). But they just won't listen.

how do you know where and whether any manufacturer will chose to compete - if there is sufficient $ to be made then I can even imagine the Koreans or Chinese getting into the bespoke super-luxury market, and probably Honda and Toyota too. It's all a matter of profits, and given the Maybach financial disaster - I suspect we won't see many other manufacturers get into the $200K + category for a while - unless its through the purchase of one of the existing players. I think Mercedes is vulnerable and may be purchased in the next couple of years by one of the Asian makes.

This isn't actually a Rolls-Royce. It's a photoshop. R-R didn't create it, and it won't look like this.

Otherwise, I agree with you.

It to bad that Honda, I mean Acura do not have a trun contender in the Lexus LS, S-class and 7 Series segment. When Honda, I mean Acura make a contender to the in the big boys class than we talk.

First off, YOUR TOTALLY OFF TOPIC HERE!,

Secondly, what's up with your sarcasm about "Honda, I mean Acura". What about your Toyota, I mean Lexus LS? Feel offended yet? lol. Jesus Christ son, you need to get it thru your head that no Lexus is going to compete with a Bentley, Rolls Royce, or Maybach. Did Lexus ever claim that theory? No, it's Jeremy Clarkson who did a comparison between cars. It doesn't mean they are in the same class. Top Gear compared an EVO with a Murcielago, does that mean an EVO is just as good? Hell no.

Quit stirring stuff up in these threads that have nothing related to your beloved Toyota brand.

On another note, Honda is successful in what they do. It's all about finance, not who can make what car. IF a company is succesful in doing what their doing why mess with a good thing. If/When they feel the need to go upmarket i'm sure Acura/Honda is capable of making high grade cars.

I feel Acura is under-rated as well. It has a lot of potential. The TL in my opinion i think is an understated entry-level luxury sedan. It's got a smooth engine with a surprisingly quiet cabin. It's got a lot more room than the IS as well for people who are in that market if they one of their pet peeves is leg room. I like the IS though, I just wished their interior was more roomy.

i too am a big fan of the TL. i like the drivetrain AND the interior more than the IS. ...just wish it came in an AWD or RWD package.

This could be a good competitor to the Flying Spur and the Maybach 57. I just don't like those front headlights. Maybe even the 760Li, Audi A8 L W12, & S600 all fully equipped would be a good bargain as well for great European Luxury. They all are respectable, some more understated than others, but all does the job in comfort and style. Only difference is it comes with less flash than the Rolls. I mean anyone who considers Maybe even the 760Li, Audi A8 L W12, & S600 can afford a Rolls anyways i'm almost a 100% sure.

Well, you're wrong.

People who buy $100K cars can't afford EVERYTHING.

I have a friend with a loaded, '04 SL500. He would only be able to afford a DB9 if he dipped into one of his kids' college funds, sold the SL for $70K (not likely) and got a cheap lease on the Aston.

If I really, really wanted to, I COULD sell my two Audis and get one of the twelve-cylinder Germans. But I would never be able to afford a Phantom. Not a day in my life have I had $350K simply to blow off.

As hard as it is to see for some of you, everyone has a limit. I can get a $90-95K Carrera Cabriolet but I would be stretching by quite a lot if I bought a 911 Turbo.

agent63, I was replying to Hondamaniac not you, so "BACK OFF" and please get off his ball, okay....! Who the hell do you think you are agent63? That my opinion not your.

If I want to says the Lexus LS600 hl is as beautiful as the RR, Bentley or the Maybach, I say it. I "DON'T Your Permission" What freaking dweeb.

What you going to do if I keep comparing the Lexus LS600 hl to the RR, Bentley and the overprice MB Maybach Agent63? there nothing you can do about it. Ha...ha...ha...ha...ha....ha...

I beging to wonder if you, agent63 and Hondamaniac is the same person.

Back OFF....

Haha am i the same person as him? NO.

A dweeb? wow what's with the harsh words you're really hurting my feelings over the internet. It's obvious that you're offended that I talk down upon your Lexus LS that you have to talk back like you're a 10 year old.

What if i want to say that you're a moron who knows nothing what you going to do about that? absolutely nothing. Quit trying to be a tough guy over the net it doesn't make you one in real life.

You should really read what people write in response to your comments. Haven't you noticed they receive numerous deboosts? You get them for a reason. So why don't you back off and slow your roll buddy. Don't get mad at me because you get so much heat from everybody. It's not my fault I say the LS is not a competitor to the RR, Bentley, or Maybach because ITS NOT. Go search on any site you see and you go see it's competitors, none are the ultra luxury saloon. You can compare all you want but we all know it isn't. Whatever makes you sleep well at night my friend.

Do you even own a Lexus? Hell do you even own a car? Or are you just a dreamer who reads reviews for a living hoping to one day drive one. Seriously, go out test drive them and then make a judgement.

You obviously do not have respect for the LS competition and don't forget that Mercedes was and still is a revolution in cars. It innovates and the mainstream copy after. ABS, SAT NAV all which is in your favorite car the LS but was fitted in the S-Class first before any.

I'm not even going to feud with you. It's pointless. You're narrow minded. I even respect the LS but my favorite would be the S-Class. You on the other hand think Lexus is the best and will beat this and that. You haven't seen or felt. You just heard. You have to see to believe. Not hear to believe.

DONE. Don't even bother responding. I'm not going to waste my time on you. So you don't waste your time on me.

Agent63, your wrong pal, the RR Phantom cost around $325-$330 grand. The 760i, Audi A8 L W12 and the S600 is in the 100+ grand segment. None of which cost close to $300 grand.

So tell me an S550 starts at $119,500.00 CAD and the LS460 starts at $86,400.00 CAD and the LS460L starts at 98,700.00 CAD. Both technically still under 100K even with the LS460L model.

TECHNICALLY the LS under 100K but it's closest competition would be the big III from Germany. Like i've said before it will not be comparable to the RR, Bentley or Maybach, especially since prices for a top range petrol LS isn't as high as the starting S550.

Lexus is good value for money. It just can't hold it's own against the classy european cars in terms of rich history and innovation (example:S-Class). Don't get me wrong the LS is great for the price. If i was more on a budget for a full size luxury saloon I would choose the LS. It's comfortable, very spacious, quiet, very worth my money.

It's a different feeling when you're in a European sedan than in a Japanese. Both are good but it's a different ambiance.
