All DaimlerChrylser cars coming with hybrid engines

DaimlerChrysler’s CEO Dieter Zetsche has made the bold claim that all DCX vehicles in the future will be developed with a hybrid option. Zetsche admitted that the topic of the environment and hybrid vehicles is “very important” especially now that the European Council is cracking down on the levels of carbon-dioxide emissions.

A hybrid durango? Oh boy thats a good idea! The mpg will increase by maybe 2 - 3 mpg, for which you will spend an extra $3000? Its not worth it.

This is stupid.

Haven't the American automakers realized (by now) that they suck at making hybrids?

If they want a 50mpg "halo" car like the Prius, it has to be on a stand-alone platform! Or at least look different from the sedan on which it would be based!

As if hybrids are what they have to invest their money in, in the first place... I'm telling you, this is a waste.

Someone creates a new technology and everyone who jumps on the wagon is a copy cat? Please come better than that guys. What about Airbags, ABS, Traction/Stability control, All Wheel Drive, LED's exterior lighting, HID headlamps, and other technology. Does that make every car company a copy cat of each other? The real topic of this discussion should be which auto maker will take hybrid technology to new heights, or how far can hybrid technology go. We (the consumers) are the ones that will benefit most from this technology becoming more mainstream anyway so what is the f*cking big deal about who had it first? Some (not all) of the Toyota/Lexus fans on this site are WAY too predictable...
