How did a rebadged Ford Escape beat out the Toyota RAV4?

I'm not even going to touch this comment...I'll wait for someone else to rip you a new one...and sit back and watch.

It might as well be a rebadged Escape.

Look at it.

They would have saved alot of R&D money, and would have ended up with the same thing.

"might as well have", and "is" are 2 completely different things. the old Freelander wasn't even an Escape. why would they base the new one off an 8 year old platform?

i think the LR2 is a nice little SUV. i actually saw it under heavy cammo in Las Vegas in sept of 05. i even rolled down the window to ask the 2 guys if it was the freelander replacement, and they said in classic snide british manner..."i don't know what you're talking about"

Well it makes sense coming from Fleet News.

As a company car or rental car a Land Rover might be an award winner. But when the driver has to actually pay for repairs themselves, the situation quickly changes.

At least in the Range Rover, the car's superb qualities more than make up for it. The interior is the best in SUV-dom, bar none. It's also beautiful to behold and impresses the neighbors.

The only other part that hurts? Fuel bills. This is very cliché, yes. But the RR is one of the most guilty gas-guzzlers. 14mpg (12mpg real-world) from a 300hp V8! Might as well get the Supercharged- it only has 1mpg less.

I really like the new X3 and I'm feeling LR's higher-end models, but the LR2 doesn't do anything for me.

lol i would expect land rover to build better suvs than bmw...cuz if u think about it....land rover only builds suvs, and thats what theyre good at...bmw builds sedans sports cars and suvs, so i think this is a fair outcome

When you are off road a discovery,a defender and maybe a freelander are hard to beat but on road the discovery is okay ,defender very uncomfortable,a freelander1 is harsh and inside feels to cheap,X3 is a on road suv which can do very minor off road same as rav and X5+porsche.

Somebody hates me enough to go through the trouble of de-boosting every post I've ever typed.

I've noticed over the last couple days... check any article I'm in. Where I used to be +3, I'm +2. Where I used to be +1, I'm 0. Where I used to be 0, I'm -1.

Doesn't make sense... somebody's out to get me.

Same with the veyron for me,everyone should be able to say what they want,i don't like merc's and audi's ,but i am not going to go against people say bad things about BMW.

Agree.

Except, I like BMW, Mercedes and Audi. My next cars (I have a winter car and an everyday driver) are going to be a struggle between the three brands.
