SPYSHOTS- Mitsubishi Evo X

SPYSHOTS- Mitsubishi Evo X
After teasing enthusiasts with concept after concept, Mitsubishi finally showed the Prototype X Concept at the NAIAS last January – and it is that very concept that will evolve into the production version of the Lancer Evolution, affectionately known as the Evo X.

Officially arriving as an early 2009 model (in the first quarter of 2008), the Evo X will be powered by a turbocharged version of the 2.0-liter I4, and will be equipped with an AWS system – complete with stability control.

In the same category as Subaru’s WRX and the upcoming Nissan Skyline GTR – the all-wheel-drive system – known as “Super-All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) – may make this the best handling vehicle in its class.

Even under the camouflage, we can see that the sheet metal on this test car is identical to that of the Prototype X Concept, although we doubt the LEDs will make it all the way to production – but even the head restraints on this vinyl-clad car match those on the shiny red concept.

All Wheel Drive and a new paddle shift transmission are said for the GTR and EVO X. The STi how ever im not sure, even though the rally team uses paddle shifters, so it might make its way into the next STi.

I might have to trade in the S2000. :(

Don't!

The S2000 will be a classic car before you know it... the best Honda sports car ever (if you don't count the super-expensive NSX).

Lease an EVO on the side and everything will be fine.

The GT-R is definitely in a different class than the the Evo X, unless Mitsubishi is gonna put some 500 hp V6 in it, which i doubt is going to happen.

This looks really sweet. I'm loving the new base Lancer- so this will impress me.

I hope Mitsu will finally get a clear styling direction, and make more of its cars look like this beast.

I don't know where you base this off of. I know plenty of people with EVOS that have been trouble free. That is they don't drive them like they stole them. When did a GTR ever be in 911 turbo league. It's just an overpriced, overhyped Nissan.
