Yeah. The Video was nice though.

it's nice I guess, but it's something all cars should be doing and at 3% it's really not worth mentioning. Incorporate it into all cars and raise the bar that much higher.

Mind that this system is only one of many solutions for reducing CO2 emissions & fuel consumption within BMW EfficientDynamics solutions.

Together with automatic Stop & Start feature & new HPI direct injection engines BMW were able to reduce fuel consumption & CO2 emissions up to 25% (depends on engine size & vehicle model).

So a 25% reduction in fuel consumption & gas emissions is a lot.

Question=is lexus cheaper than the same spec BMW? When is200 came out here it was same price as 325i ,new is250 cost 330i money

Although if it were the reverse (Toyota did the copying), all of you would be spouting off the same type of $hit and you'd all be giving each other high-fives. The point is that "regenerative braking" is nothing new and is used quite extensively on hybrid technology.

But I do admit we all have to thank BMW for coming up with a fancy name for it:

"Brake Energy Regeneration"

Lexus DIDNT invent hybrids GM actually was the FIRST to produce them willing to market but it fell through with their XP-883 hybrid back in 1969. but all of them were crushed and never put in production i believe.

Implementing / offering it first doesn't necessary also mean inventing it first!

Sometimes some technological solutions depend on marketing & financial solutions (prospective markets, production costs, compatibility with brand values etc).

BMW have many technologies developed yet don't want to offer it yet since production is to costly and would hurt BMW profit. Also some technologies are developed but being tweaked to perfection to absolutely fit BMW character of Ultimate Driving Machine. No compromise!

BMFan: I just bought an IS250 after selling my 7 yr old BMW 323i. I paid $8500 under what I would have paid for an BMW 328i. The BMW is a fine driving machine, BUT I'm damned impressed with the driving characteristics of the IS250, especially with the 18" wheels. It is a true sports sedan at the top level.

One component of the hybrid system is already big step for BMW, because BMW has no Toyota's technique power.
