When does the next generation Porsche 911 (998) hit dealerships? We let you know the exclusive scoop!
When we first saw the current 911 introduced (Model 997) we thought to ourselves how could Porsche make it look any better?

That task will not be easy but we know they are hard at work trying to out do themselves once again.

A while ago, we posted this drawing of what it could look like and we hope it does.

If it does look anything close to this, it will be the best looking 911 in history and the 911 order bank will overflowing with customer orders.

Now the big question...when will we see it in dealers?

We're told that depends...

On what you ask?

Porsche is currently surveying dealers to determine if they will do two or three years of production on GT3's and RS's.

If they do two, the 998 will hit the streets in 2009 as a 2010 model.

But if orders stay strong, the 998 will be delayed until 2010 as a 2011 model.

So sorry for being selfish guys and gals but we hope there is only a two year run on GT3's and RS's.

WE WANT OUR NEW 998 SOONER THAN LATER!!!!!!!!

Let Porsche know what you think below...

So you guys want it to look like a Crossfire? Cause that's the only thing I'm getting out of the concept sketch.

I think the 997 is simply incredible but it would be great to see the new 998 on 2010...just a couple of years before the 911 turns 50!

I think its safe to say that Porsche will always keep the 911 beautiful. Other than the 996 headlights, I cant think of a single design flaw in the 911's entire history. They've always been gorgeous to look at and drive.

I agree, they've always been beautiful cars. I didnt even mind the lights on the 996 all that much. I would have to say though that the 997 is probably the best looking 911 model yet sans the 993 Turbo, which will probably never be beat in the styling department.

I think that looks more like an armadillo than a car.

"Breathtaking?" I'd like it to retain its classic shape. It still looks stunning, over forty-five years later.

I actually like it: I would like to see it from the side though.

The picture shown is one of several posted recently by an individual not associated with Porsche. The issue was discussed on several forums dedicated to Porsche. The artist is not employed by Porsche nor is he under contract with Porsche. Unfortunately the picture does not really depict what the 998 will look like. No one outside of the inner circle at Porsche knows yet. For further discussion of this rumor, you can go to the Cayman Club forum.

not a porsche owner myself unfortunately, but i must say the only flaw prior to the 997 in the beautiful 911 history was that the interior just wasnt up to par for a 70/80K plus car - although its a sports car, porsche's claim to fame is the sports car you drive everyday, its not a ferrari or lamborghini, so u expect the interior to be up to par....now, the 997 has addressed that issue with making a truly nice interior....in my eyes, its the most beautiful car in the world along with the DB9 / XK and 6 series BMW
