Tundra v. F150 Mechanical Comparison

Why can't you accept the fact that Toyota made a truck better than a Ford? Will it sell more than Ford? Probably not, but gee, they made a truck, these are the facts. Why some people have to bash Toyota until the end of their life, I will have no idea.

Because Toyota didn't make a truck that can beat the F-150. Bigger brakes and some horsepower a truck don't make.

Just ask Dodge that until they tweaked the Ram and came out with the current version.

Let's talk in 30 years when Toyota still hasn't overtaken the F-150.

I've been reading the site for a long time and I finally have some worthwhile comments that I'll share.

First off, if tundraheadquarters wants to delve into Ford's issue with sparkplugs from the late 90's, why not mention the brake issues on the early 2000 Tundras? I guess that's because that weakens the Tundra's case.

The current F150 changed the game with regards to comfort, noise, and vibrations. I really want to see how well the Tundra answers the call. I think Toyota makes some good products, but they're outside their comfort zone and that makes me a little skeptical.

I'm sure people thought the Taurus, Celebrity, Escort and Cavalier were safely perched on the top forever too.

Ok... but it lost me here.. "In our opinion, payload isn’t too big of a factor for most people buying these two trucks."... is that a typo?! That’s like saying performance isn’t a big factor for someone buying a Corvette. That’s one of the most wonderfully blind, biased and poorly conceived attempts to justify a shortcoming that I’ve ever seen.

From the article the Tundra is "better" than the F150 by means of:

Engine
Transmission
Brakes
Towing

Frame: They "humbly" declare the F150 better, and
Payload: Although they clearly show the F150 being capable of more for both regular cab, and extended cab, somehow they end up at a tie.

I personally want a truck only for it's payload and towing capacity. Besides that, the only other thing that is important is the ability to attach "Bumper Ballz". Ha ha.

What's that?......Oh, I think it's the new '08 F-150 on the horizon!

With the acception of the Ram, the F-150 is the oldest out of the group. Compare the Tundra to the Silverado and then talk.

Edmunds did, the Tundra won.

Biased unprofessional and Biased some more

Boy, this should get Big 3 followers all riled up. Toytoa made a big move into trucks and it does not sit well with the old boy network.
Considering the huge profits in these trucks, every sale to Toyota is double zinger for the domestics
1) Lost profit on their only lucarative segment.
2) Extra money for Toyota

Frankly, i think toyota will make their target of 200K sales. The real catch in that is
1) How many were updgrades from the older Tundra
2) (Million dollar question ) How many are customer aquisitions from the big 3.

Saw my first Tundra on the road today. It was white, it was a Double Cab and it was HUGE. Not much bigger than other trucks, but chunky- makes the Ram look anorexic. Not bad-looking, but then again, I'm no truck expert.

Then, a white 335i sped by me, going the other way. And thoughts of sleek, sexy cars clouded my image of the Tundra.

Saw maybe four on the road this past weekend, most were blue as I recall. They are really massive and impressive in person.

I just like the Tundra Commercials!

IMO the tundra looks ugly. The big 3 did a better job in the design department.

Well, since you have seen the ugly looking tundra before it, the 335i's beautiful sight will only neutralise the situation..... if you get what I mean :D.

REAL truck buyers/USERS don't give much of a rat's ass WHAT a truck looks like, if it gets the job done better than the competition.

until recently, the Tacoma was one of the ugliest! (and i say this as a toyota owner.)

that never stopped it from being performance and sales LEADER in its segment just about forever.
